This role is initially focused on automated testing, continuous integration (CI), and data-driven analysis of codec behaviour and performance.\n\nThe role will also have a focus on interoperability (IOP) testing and deeper audio-domain work, requiring an understanding of audio signal processing, codec algorithms, and subjective/objective audio quality evaluation.\n\nYou will work closely with audio algorithm, systems, and platform teams to ensure audio codecs are robust, scalable, standards-compliant, and production\u2011ready across wearables, mobile, XR, compute, IoT, and automotive products.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n\u00b7 Develop, maintain, and execute automated test pipelines for audio codecs and audio subsystems using CI frameworks (e.g. Jenkins or equivalent industry-standard tools).\n\n\u00b7 Design and implement functional, regression, performance, and stress test suites for audio codecs and related components.\n\n\u00b7 Analyse large volumes of test results and logs to identify defects, regressions, performance bottlenecks, and standards compliance issues.\n\n\u00b7 Investigate test failures through root-cause analysis, working closely with codec, DSP, and platform teams to drive resolution.\n\n\u00b7 Create and maintain test infrastructure, scripts, and tooling to improve coverage, scalability, and efficiency of audio validation.\n\n\u00b7 Document test methodologies, test results, and known limitations clearly and concisely.\n\n\u00b7 Perform interoperability (IOP) testing of audio codecs across devices, platforms, and ecosystems.\n\n\u00b7 Develop an understanding of audio signal processing fundamentals to support deeper analysis of codec behaviour and quality.\n\n\u00b7 Assist in objective and subjective audio quality evaluation, including comparison of reference and DUT outputs.\n\n\u00b7 Support analysis of bitstreams, packetisation, error conditions, and corner cases relevant to real-world deployments.\n\n\u00b7 Contribute to refining test strategies aligned with standards, specifications, and customer use cases.\n\nRequirements\n\n\u00b7 Strong experience in software testing, validation, or analysis, preferably in embedded or systems-level environments.\n\n\u00b7 Hands-on experience with CI systems such as Jenkins or similar automated build and test infrastructures.\n\n\u00b7 Proficiency in Python for test automation, data analysis, and tooling.\n\n\u00b7 Solid programming skills in C/C++ for debugging and understanding codec or DSP-related code paths.\n\n\u00b7 Experience analysing logs, metrics, and audio data to diagnose issues and validate behaviour.\n\n\u00b7 Understanding of software development and debugging workflows in Linux and/or embedded environments.\n\n\u00b7 Ability to work across teams, communicate findings clearly, and drive issues to closure.\n\n\u00b7 Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and test completeness.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n\u00b7 Experience testing audio encoders and decoders in production or pre\u2011silicon/post\u2011silicon environments.\n\n\u00b7 Exposure to embedded DSP platforms or real\u2011time systems.\n\n\u00b7 Familiarity with Qualcomm audio frameworks, SDKs, or development tools (advantageous but not required).\n\n\u00b7 Prior experience in validation, verification, or QA roles that transitioned into domain expertise.\n\n\u00b7 Basic to intermediate understanding of audio signal processing concepts.\n\n\u00b7 Familiarity with audio codecs (e.g. AAC, SBC, LC3, aptX, or similar).\n\n\u00b7 Experience with audio test and analysis tools, waveform inspection, or offline signal analysis.\n\n\u00b7 Exposure to codec standards, compliance testing, or IOP testing.\n\n\u00b7 Familiarity with fixed-point vs floating-point behaviour and its impact on signal quality.\n\nEducational Qualifications\n\n\u00b7 Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related technical field.\n\nKeywords\n\nAudio codec testing, CI/CD, Jenkins, Automated testing, Validation, Analysis, Interoperability testing (IOP), Audio signal processing, Audio codecs, Embedded systems, Python, C/C++, Audio quality evaluation, DSP, Standards compliance\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.\n\n\n\n\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
