This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Audio Transcription Reviewer (Annotator) based in India.
This is a fully remote, freelance opportunity supporting an English (US) speech-data annotation project. You’ll review short audio clips and improve automated transcription and word-level timing data with precision. Your work will help ensure speech datasets are accurate, consistent, and representative of real-world language use. The role is well suited to detail-oriented contributors with strong English listening comprehension and familiarity with US cultural and linguistic context. You’ll work independently while following clear annotation guidelines and quality standards. The flexible structure allows you to contribute around 15–20 hours per week based on your availability.
Accountabilities
- Listen carefully to short audio recordings in US English and assess their clarity and accuracy.
- Review and correct word-level timestamps and segment boundaries produced by an automated alignment system.
- Verify and edit spoken-form transcriptions according to detailed project style guides and annotation instructions.
- Identify ambiguous, unclear, or difficult-to-interpret audio segments and flag them for further adjudication.
- Maintain a consistently high level of accuracy across assigned batches and follow established quality standards.
- Apply annotation rules consistently while paying close attention to timing, wording, and contextual accuracy.
- Complete assigned work reliably within project expectations and communicate issues when clarification or support is required.
Requirements
- Strong English (US) listening comprehension and familiarity with US cultural and linguistic conventions.
- Previous experience in transcription, audio annotation, data labeling, linguistic review, or similar work is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing precise word-level timestamps and segment boundaries.
- Ability to understand and consistently apply detailed style guides, annotation instructions, and quality requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Reliable and disciplined approach to freelance, project-based work.
- A stable, high-speed internet connection, a quiet working environment, and good-quality headphones.
- Availability to contribute approximately 15–20 hours per week.
