BI Developer

Role Purpose

Own the full data lifecycle: from building scalable data lakes/warehouse/mart/houses to delivering intuitive, interactive dashboards. You will spend half your time engineering data pipelines in Databricks—integrating enterprise sources like SAP and MES—and the other half developing high-performance Power BI semantic models and user-facing reports. The ideal candidate blends back-end data orchestration with front-end analytical storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Platform

• Build scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ingest, process, and clean structured and unstructured data using Databricks.


• Extract, blend, and harmonize complex data streams from multiple systems including such as SAP & MES.


• Implement robust data governance, access controls, and optimizations to ensure data integrity and query performance.


• Ensure cost of the data platforms is within budget

1. Enterprise Business Intelligence

• Define the metrics, KPIs, and visual layout for Power BI dashboards across Sales, Planning, Production, Sourcing, Quality, Logistics, Finance, engineering etc.


• Author complex, time-intelligent, and context-aware DAX calculations to compute functional KPIs, targets, and trend metrics.


• Establish clean, well-documented semantic layers and workspaces to support power users in building their own ad-hoc visualizations.


• Implement dynamic Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) frameworks across Databricks and Power BI.


• Build all review dashboards in Power BI


• Establish a self-service BI model, training functional power-users on data literacy and report consumption.

1. Stakeholder Management

• Work with functional team members to identify their needs, conceptualize the UI that best meets their needs, take alignment from the team members and support in driving adoption.

Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from Tier-1/2 institute (IIT / NIT / BITS or equivalent)

Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in building and running Data Platforms and Business Intelligence reporting.


• At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark (PySpark/SQL), and cloud data warehouse ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or GCP).


• Solid understanding of SAP data structures (Tables, BAPIs, OData) and MES transactional data mapping.


• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, advanced DAX modelling, Power Query, and star-schema data modelling.

Skills & Competencies

• Power BI Desktop & Service, Advance DAX, Power Query processing etc.


• Python


• Strong foundational knowledge of SAP data structures or MES logs is highly preferred.
