Job Description - BMLT, DMLT or equivalent

Markandey Healthcare and Research Center is looking to hire Laboratory technician for upcoming Markandey Healthcare and Research Center. The Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring the accuracy of test results, and following established laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect and handle patient specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, and tissue samples following proper collection procedures. Prepare specimens for testing and ensure correct labeling.
  • Laboratory Testing: Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests (e.g., hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, pathology). Calibrate and operate laboratory instruments and equipment. Record and interpret test results accurately.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results by following quality control procedures. Maintain documentation of test outcomes and quality checks.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Report and coordinate repairs when necessary.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records of laboratory procedures, tests, and results in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. Communicate test results to physicians or healthcare providers on time.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper handling and disposal of bio hazardous materials. Stay updated with laboratory standards, policies, and accreditation requirements.


Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: BMLT, DMLT or Equivalent Qualifications.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as sample collection, preparation, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instruments like sphygmomanometer, centrifuges, and automated analyzers.
  • Understanding of infection control and laboratory safety standards.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and quality control protocols.
  • In many countries, certification or licensing by a recognized medical or laboratory board is required (e.g., ASCP, AMT, or state/national -level certification).
  • Registration with a local or national health council may also be mandatory (e.g., Health and Care Professions Council in the UK or similar).
  • Entry -level roles may accept fresh graduates with an internship or clinical training.
  • Specialized roles may demand expertise in areas like histopathology, microbiology, or blood banking.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with medical staff and patients.
  • Attention to detail for accurate diagnosis and reporting.
  • Physical stamina to work in busy laboratory environments.
  • Teamwork and organizational skills for managing lab operations efficiently.
