CAD Manager

Leads, develops, and manage Mechanical Product definition (Drafting) & Engineering Product support (Design support), team consists of Mechanical designers. Lead various strategic initiatives like automation, standardization, optimization of processes etc.. Accountable for Quality deliverables in a timely manner Determine practicality of design, material selection, fabrication process, cost reduction opportunities and interact with design engineers and provide resolutions to eliminate errors Maintaining quality principles for all CAD Deliverables with Robust Documentation and carrying out Program Level Communication with counterparts in other groups. Ensure all drawings produced are correct in standard, right reference and in compliance with global / Lam standards and engineering practices Guide the Product definition (drafting) team in performing DFx on all the NPD drawings and and also in implementing MBD (Model based definition) models delivered. Maintain and develop process checkpoints to ensure adherence to drafting standards and schedules. Work with leadership peers to drive process improvements as necessary. Assigns & manages work responsibilities to individual engineers through work flows and monitor deliveries Interacts with India and US-based Mechanical Engineering Managers of different Lam Product Groups regarding drafting tasks and in delivering results. Mentor, train & guide new team members on drafting standards, quality principles etc. Engage in hiring, training, capability development, coaching & mentoring, and skill building activities in LIGHT Manage employee performance, recognize, reward and retain talented individuals B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical / Production / Industrial) - with minimum 12 yrs of relevant experience Hands on experience in creating drawings for Sheetmetal, machined parts and assemblies using Creo / Nx with Strong knowledge on ANSI standards (GD&T, Welding symbols, Surface finish etc..) 10+ years of experience with capital equipment or similar (for e.g. medical equipment, automotive, aircraft, etc.) industry in a design or documentation function with Knowledge on sheet metal fabrication, Machining, welding etc.. 3+ years of experience in managing direct reports consisting of mechanical engineers with skills in conducting appraisal feedback and motivating team in achieving business results. Successful track record of juggling multiple parallel projects and handling process improvements with demonstrated skill in project management, prioritizing, decision making and problem solving in the absence of complete or accurate data Fair knowledge on MS office programs like MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc Knowledge on Semi-conductor products Knowledge in cost reduction, alternate processes, VA/VE etc.. Experience in one dimensional tolerance stack-up check, fit check (interference & clearance) Electrical/PID schematic reading skill is an added advantage Experience in working with cross-disciplinary teams (including electrical, software, manufacturing engineers) for major projects
