Job Description - Cambridge Lower Secondary Computer Science Teacher

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

JobType: full-time

This role involves delivering engaging and concept-driven Computer Science education to middle school learners (Grades 6–8) within an internationally recognized curriculum framework. The focus is on developing strong foundations in computational thinking, coding, and digital literacy through age-appropriate, interactive, and inquiry-based teaching methods. You will play a key role in nurturing curiosity, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills while preparing students to confidently navigate the digital world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver structured Computer Science lessons aligned with Lower Secondary curriculum objectives
  • Teach core concepts such as algorithms, basic programming, data representation, and computer systems
  • Introduce coding fundamentals using tools and languages such as Scratch, block-based platforms, and basic Python
  • Foster problem-solving, logical reasoning, and creativity through hands-on activities and projects
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to track learning outcomes
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Integrate technology, project-based learning, and real-world applications into classroom instruction
  • Maintain accurate academic records, assessments, and student progress reports
  • Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with peers to support student development
  • Participate in school events, professional development initiatives, and co-curricular programs

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Teaching qualification such as B.Ed or an equivalent certification is preferred
  • Prior experience teaching middle school or lower secondary students
  • Familiarity with an international curriculum framework is an added advantage
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate young learners
  • Passion for teaching technology concepts in a clear, creative, and student-centered manner
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet varying academic and developmental needs
  • Collaborative mindset with effective communication and interpersonal skills
