We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Catalog Specialist to manage end-to-end product catalog operations across digital platforms. The ideal candidate will own the complete catalog lifecycle—from data collection and enrichment to quality control, categorization, and publication—ensuring customers receive accurate, complete, and updated product information.

This role requires strong experience in cataloging for e-commerce, retail, or digital marketplaces, along with a deep understanding of product taxonomy, attributes, classification, and content optimization. The candidate should have 4–5 years of hands-on experience in maintaining large product catalogs and working closely with cross-functional teams such as merchandising, product, operations, and content.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Catalog Specialist to manage end-to-end product catalog operations across digital platforms. The ideal candidate will own the complete catalog lifecycle—from data collection and enrichment to quality control, categorization, and publication—ensuring customers receive accurate, complete, and updated product information.

This role requires strong experience in cataloging for e-commerce, retail, or digital marketplaces, along with a deep understanding of product taxonomy, attributes, classification, and content optimization. The candidate should have 4–5 years of hands-on experience in maintaining large product catalogs and working closely with cross-functional teams such as merchandising, product, operations, and content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, update, and maintain product catalogs across platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of product details, attributes, images, and metadata.
  • Create and define product categories, taxonomies, and attribute structures to enhance product discoverability and search relevance.
  • Work with product, sales, and sourcing teams to collect essential product data, including specifications, pricing, inventory details, and compliance information.
  • Enrich existing product listings with SEO-friendly descriptions, keywords, tags, and classification standards to improve visibility and conversions.
  • Monitor product content quality and execute regular audits to identify missing, outdated, or incorrect data.
  • Coordinate with content writers, designers, and technical teams to ensure catalog readiness and timely go-live for new product launches.
  • Maintain product mapping across marketplaces, internal systems, and third-party integrations.
  • Understand and apply catalog standards, including GS1, UNSPSC, e-commerce taxonomy, and industry-based classification.
  • Track competitor catalogs and market trends to enhance product positioning.
  • Troubleshoot catalog issues, including listing errors, attribute mismatches, and platform-level discrepancies.
  • Generate catalog performance reports and recommend improvements based on customer behavior, search patterns, and product analytics.
  • Support bulk uploads, data migration, and system transitions using Excel, CSV templates, or catalog management tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of proven experience in catalog management, preferably in e-commerce, retail, or marketplace environments.
  • Strong knowledge of product cataloging, SKU creation, product lifecycle management, and taxonomy structuring.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, bulk data handling, and catalog upload formats (CSV, XML, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with catalog management platforms, PIM/DAM systems, or e-commerce CMS (e.g., Shopify, Magento, Amazon Seller Central, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large data sets with accuracy.
  • Good understanding of SEO principles for product listing optimization.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage catalog operations across multiple teams.
  • Experience in handling consumer-facing product data across industries such as electronics, fashion, FMCG, home, industrial, etc., is a plus.

Preferred Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of marketplace compliance rules (Amazon, Flipkart, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, scripts, or catalog APIs is a plus.
