The Cloud Security Engineer is a technical resource responsible for helping design, manage, and maintain a new Microsoft Azure cloud offering with security as a primary focus.
The role works closely with cloud engineering, information security, DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams to implement secure cloud services, deployment patterns, and operational controls.
This position requires advanced knowledge of cloud computing, cloud security principles, and public cloud best practices, with hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Azure. The Cloud InfoSec Engineer supports secure Kubernetes/AKS, identity, secrets management, CI/CD pipeline security, vulnerability management, incident response, and SecOps practices across the cloud environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist with the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of a new Azure cloud offering with security embedded throughout the platform lifecycle.
Partner with cloud engineering, information security, DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver secure cloud services and deployment patterns.
Implement and maintain security controls across Azure services, AKS, identity, networking, secrets management, container registries, and CI/CD pipelines.
Support secure Kubernetes and AKS architecture, configuration, deployment practices, monitoring, and operational readiness.
Help administer and secure Azure service principals, app registrations, managed identities, Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, Azure DevOps, and related platform services.
Develop, document, and promote cloud security standards, hardening guidance, operational procedures, and repeatable security patterns.
Support pipeline security practices including scanning tools, static code analysis, image scanning, dependency scanning, and policy enforcement.
Participate in vulnerability management activities, including identification, prioritization, remediation tracking, and reporting of cloud security findings.
Support cloud incident response, security investigations, root cause analysis, and remediation activities in partnership with SecOps and infrastructure teams.
Troubleshoot complex cloud, security, networking, identity, and deployment issues across Azure and related infrastructure services.
Contribute to metrics, reporting, and documentation related to security posture, vulnerability remediation, operational health, and compliance readiness.
Maintain awareness of emerging cloud security threats, Azure security capabilities, and industry best practices.
WHO YOU ARE
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
4-7 years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, information security, infrastructure, DevOps, systems engineering, or related technical roles.
Advanced knowledge of cloud computing concepts, public cloud fundamentals, and secure cloud architecture principles.
Advanced knowledge of cloud security principles, best practices, controls, and operational processes.
Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Azure is required.
Knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Kubernetes security concepts, containerized application deployments, and related operational practices.
Knowledge of Azure service principals, app registrations, managed identities, Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience or working knowledge of scanning tools, static code analysis, container/image scanning, dependency scanning, and secure pipeline practices.
Knowledge of identity and access management, least privilege access, role-based access control, secrets management, and credential lifecycle practices.
Experience with vulnerability management, security findings remediation, incident response, and SecOps processes.
Strong IT fundamentals including networking, DNS, Active Directory, identity, compute, storage, firewalls, and related infrastructure services.
Advanced troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex cloud, security, infrastructure, and application deployment issues.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to document findings and communicate technical risks clearly.
Ability to work collaboratively across security, cloud engineering, application, operations, and business stakeholder groups.
