Job Title: Cognos to Power BI Migration Developer / Consultant

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced BI professional with strong expertise in IBM Cognos and Microsoft Power BI to lead and execute migration projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing Cognos reports, redesigning data models, and developing scalable Power BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and understand existing IBM Cognos reports, dashboards, and data models
  
• Design and implement migration strategy from Cognos to Power BI
  
• Convert Cognos reports into Power BI dashboards with improved UX/UI
  
• Develop and optimize Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards
  
• Build efficient data models using star/snowflake schema principles
  
• Write complex DAX calculations and Power Query (M language) transformations
  
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
  
• Ensure data accuracy, performance tuning, and report validation
  
• Implement row -level security (RLS) and data governance standards
  
• Document migration processes, data lineage, and technical designs
  
• Support deployment using Power BI Service, gateways, and CI/CD pipelines
  

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in BI tools, with strong hands -on in IBM Cognos
  
• Proven experience in Power BI development and migration projects
  
• Strong knowledge of:
  • DAX
    
  • Power Query (M)
    
  • Data modeling techniques
    
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
  
• Strong SQL querying and performance tuning skills
  
• Understanding of ETL processes and tools
  
• Experience with Power BI Service, workspaces, and data gateways
  
• Knowledge of report optimization and performance best practices
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Azure (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, or Data Lake)
  
• Familiarity with other BI tools (Tableau, SSRS, etc.)
  
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  
• Exposure to DevOps pipelines for BI deployments
  
• Understanding of data governance and security frameworks
