Job Description - Communications Assistant

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

Salary range: Rs 240000 - Rs 300000 (ie INR 2.4-3 LPA)

Min Experience: 0 years

Location: Kolkata

JobType: full-time

We are seeking a detail-oriented and articulate Communications Assistant to support the communications function through professional writing, coordination, and administrative support. This role involves drafting clear and consistent messaging, managing correspondence, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication across channels.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working with digital tools while maintaining high standards of written communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain professional communication channels including email, Google Workspace, and calendars
  • Draft press releases, short articles, internal memos, and stakeholder emails
  • Send timely follow-ups and maintain a structured tracking system for correspondence
  • Coordinate with editorial, social media, and external PR/partner teams to support campaigns and launches
  • Ensure consistency in tone, grammar, and messaging across all communication materials
  • Support administrative tasks such as document management in Google Drive, scheduling meetings, and preparing minutes
  • Assist in adopting and leveraging AI tools for drafting and refining content under senior guidance

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong professional writing skills with excellent command of written English
  • High standards of email etiquette and communication clarity
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar)
  • Familiarity with press release formats and internal communication best practices
  • Strong attention to tone, grammar, accuracy, and deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, PR, or a related field preferred
  • Willingness to work on-site in Kolkata and learn AI-assisted communication tools
