Composites Engineer – Cost Estimation (Aerospace & Space Systems)
Role Summary:
The Composites Engineer – Cost Estimation will be responsible for cost engineering, industrialization costing, and RFQ support for advanced composite structures used in aerospace and space applications. The role involves translating engineering requirements and manufacturing processes into accurate cost models, supporting make -buy decisions, supplier negotiations, and program industrialization.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Engineering & Estimation:
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and SOWs to estimate material, CAPEX, OPEX, overheads, and NRC.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for RFQs from global aerospace and spacetech OEMs.
- Support bid and proposal teams with competitive cost models.
Manufacturing & Industrialization:
- Define manufacturing processes and build sequences for composite detail parts and assemblies.
- Support industrialization programs for major OEMs and global space companies
- Review Bill of Materials (BoM), manufacturing work instructions, visual aids, rework sheets, and tooling plans.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinate with international and domestic customers and suppliers if required.
- Participate in supplier negotiations and cost validation.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or master’s in aerospace, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
Strong composite manufacturing and cost engineering knowledge.
- 3 -5 years’ experience in a similar role
