Job Description - Consultant - GIS (FME)

Description

To provide GIS support to multi-disciplinary projects. You will provide advice and support in all areas of data management including assistance with the development of data management strategies. 



Responsibilities
  • Hands-on with FME and FME Flow for data integration and automation.
  • Provide GIS and / or CAD support to all areas of the business as required
  • Provide data management support and data development in area of responsibility
  • Support Senior GIS Consultants in the team as required
  • Develop client facing opportunities.
  • Liaising with staff at all levels of a client organisation and with other consultancies working on the projects for data requests
  • To undertake and manage development in respect of the following key areas:
    • Assist in the effective development of data management strategies.
    • Assist in the development of data sets
    • Advice project staff on all GIS related issues
    • Be aware of all project financial matters
    • Deliver GIS support and data management within projects to high standards on time and to budget
    • Keep up to date with business developments related to GIS and Data structures
    • Attend monthly project meetings with client as appropriate
    • Advise on staff training
    • Willingness to travel to and work in any WSP office or in the client s office.
    • To be aware of WSP Health and Safety policy with particular regard to the requirements of site work by both self and staff.
    • Undertake own continuous professional development.


Qualifications

Mandatory Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in successful data management
  • Proven track record in GIS
  • Proven knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server
  • Knowledge of web development, database technology and technical architectures
  • Knowledge of metadata standards and their application
  • Fluent written and verbal English.
  • Should possess good interpersonal skills, good team player with an innate ability to motivate colleagues to give of their best.
  • To be flexible and adaptable in the range of work undertaken and deliver it with enthusiasm.
  • To be self-motivated.
  • Willingness to help support and develop others.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of BIM desirable

Qualifications

  • With a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (GIS), a member of a relevant professional institution or will have demonstrable experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of the following is essential:
    • Any Graduate or relevant study into the field of GIS
    • At least 4 years of relevant study into the field of GIS
    • Knowledge and experience in successful data management
    • Proven track record in GIS
    • Proven knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server
    • Knowledge of web development, database technology and technical architectures
    • Knowledge of BIM desirable
    • Knowledge of metadata standards and their application.
