Job Description - Curriculum Head- Science

Role Summary

The Curriculum Head – Science will provide
academic and instructional leadership for the Science curriculum across grades. The role will lead curriculum design, implementation, assessment, teacher
development, and academic quality improvement, ensuring alignment with the
school’s academic vision, learning outcomes, and standards of teaching and
learning.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Science educator
with strong subject expertise and proven experience in curriculum
development, pedagogy, teacher training, assessment design, instructional
coaching, and academic evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum
    & Content Development:
     Lead the design, review, mapping,
    sequencing, and progression of the Science curriculum across grades,
    ensuring conceptual depth, breadth, academic rigour, and clear learning
    outcomes.
  • Content
    Creation & Curation:
     Develop, review, and standardise
    high-quality Science content including lesson plans, teacher guides,
    student learning modules, worksheets, concept resources, presentations,
    projects, case studies, practical activities, enrichment and intervention materials.
  • Content
    Quality:
     Ensure all Science content is scientifically accurate,
    age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned, engaging, well-structured, and
    progressively scaffolded, with emphasis on conceptual understanding,
    application, scientific reasoning, and higher-order thinking.
  • Assessment
    Content:
     Lead the development and quality assurance of question
    banks, question papers, competency- and application-based questions, case
    studies, practical assessments, projects, rubrics, and formative
    assessment resources aligned to learning outcomes.
  • Practical
    & Experiential Learning:
     Strengthen laboratory work,
    experimentation, inquiry, investigations, projects, real-world
    applications, and STEM connections within the curriculum and learning
    resources.
  • Teacher
    Development:
     Design and deliver professional development to
    strengthen Science subject knowledge, pedagogy, lesson design, content
    delivery, questioning, differentiation, practical teaching, and assessment
    practices.
  • Instructional
    Coaching:
     Conduct classroom observations and review lesson plans,
    student work, and assessments; provide actionable feedback and coaching to
    improve the quality and consistency of Science teaching.
  • Academic
    Evaluation:
     Analyse student performance and classroom evidence to
    identify learning gaps and misconceptions and use insights to improve
    curriculum, content, teaching strategies, and interventions.
  • Resource
    & Repository Management:
     Build and maintain a structured
    repository of Science teaching, learning, assessment, practical,
    enrichment, and intervention resources.
  • Continuous
    Improvement:
     Stay abreast of developments in Science education,
    pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and educational technology, and
    continuously enhance content and academic practices.
  • Academic
    Collaboration:
     Work with the Principal, academic leadership,
    coordinators, and Science educators to establish academic priorities,
    maintain standards, resolve implementation challenges, and build a culture
    of Science excellence.




Requirements

Qualification & Experience

  • Master’s
    degree in Science.
  • Additional
    qualification in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or
    Educational Leadership is desirable.
  • 8–12+
    years of experience in Science education, with demonstrated
    progression into curriculum, academic, or instructional leadership.
  • Proven
    expertise in Science curriculum development, teacher training,
    assessment design, instructional coaching, and academic evaluation.
  • Strong
    experience in developing teaching-learning resources, assessment
    frameworks, question papers, and subject-specific content.
  • Strong
    understanding of inquiry-based, experiential, competency-based, and
    application-oriented Science pedagogy.
