 What will you be doing?

• We are looking for a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 3-4 years of experience to manage and support PostgreSQL database environments. The candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance monitoring, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of critical business databases.

Job Responsibilities: 

Database Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.


• Create and manage database users, roles, and permissions.


• Monitor database health, availability, and performance.


• Perform routine database maintenance activities.

Performance Monitoring & Tuning

• Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.


• Optimize SQL queries and indexes.


• Analyze slow queries and recommend improvements.


• Support capacity planning and database growth management.

Backup & Recovery

• Execute and validate database backup procedures.


• Perform database restore operations when required.


• Assist in disaster recovery testing and documentation.


• Ensure backup policies and retention requirements are followed.

High Availability & Replication

• Support PostgreSQL replication environments.


• Monitor replication status and troubleshoot issues.


• Assist in failover and recovery activities.

Production Support

• Troubleshoot database-related incidents and outages.


• Work with application and infrastructure teams to resolve issues.


• Participate in on-call support and maintenance activities.


• Perform root cause analysis and document findings.

Automation & Monitoring

• Use scripts to automate routine DBA activities.


• Work with monitoring tools for proactive alerting and reporting.


• Maintain database documentation and operational procedures.

Requirements:

• 3-4 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL Database Administration.


• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture and database concepts.


• Experience with PostgreSQL backup and recovery methods.


• Knowledge of SQL query optimization and performance tuning.


• Experience with PostgreSQL replication.


• Good understanding of Linux/Unix environments.


• Familiarity with Shell scripting or Python scripting.


• Experience with database monitoring tools.


• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with PostgreSQL upgrades and migrations.


• Knowledge of High Availability solutions such as Patroni, PgBouncer, or repmgr.


• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms.


• Knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field.


• 3-4 years of relevant PostgreSQL DBA experience.

Key Competencies

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.


• Good communication and documentation abilities.


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.


• Willingness to provide production and on-call support.

• Primary Skill: PostgreSQL DBA
  Secondary Skills: Linux, SQL Performance Tuning, Backup & Recovery, Shell/Python Scripting, Replication & Monitoring.
