ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (8+ years' experience) to manage and support enterprise database platforms across on‑premises and Azure environments. This role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance optimization, security, and scalability of mission-critical database systems, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, in hybrid cloud architecture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Database Administration (Oracle + SQL Server):

• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise database systems (Oracle, SQL Server).
• Perform Database upgrades and patching, Schema management and deployments
• Handle Data integrity, indexing, and storage optimization

• Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries and indexing strategies
  • Analyze Query execution plans & Resource utilization (CPU, memory, I/O)
  • Identify and resolve Slow queries and Locking/blocking issues
• Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery:

• Design and implement Backup strategies (RMAN, SQL backups), Recovery and restore processes.
• Define and maintain RPO / RTO targets, Execute and validate DR drills and failover tests

• Hybrid Cloud (Azure + On-Prem):
  • Manage databases across On-prem data centers and Azure SQL / Azure VMs
  • Support Migration of databases to Azure and Hybrid data platform solutions
  • Perform Capacity planning, scaling, and cost optimization in cloud environments
• High Availability & Replication

• Design and implement Database clustering and Replication solutions
• Ensure High availability of mission-critical systems and Monitor failover configurations

• Troubleshooting & Incident Management

• Diagnosing and Resolving Database outages, Performance degradation and Connectivity issues
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and Support L2/L3 production incidents

• Automation & DevOps Integration

• Develop scripts (PowerShell, Shell) for automation. Automate Backup, maintenance, and monitoring tasks.
• Support CI/CD database deployments by working with DevOps teams on database integration.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in IT / Computer Science or equivalent
• Strong enterprise experience supporting mission-critical systems
• 8+ years’ experience as Database Administrator
• Proven experience in Azure cloud and hybrid environment.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Strong expertise in:

• Oracle (PL/SQL, RMAN, ASM)
• MS SQL Server (T-SQL, Always-On, Replication)

• Hands-on with Hybrid infrastructure management capabilities

• Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance
• SQL Server on Azure VM

• Experience in Performance Tuning

• Backup & DR solutions

• PowerShell scripting

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Collaboration & Leadership: Collaborate with Network, security, cloud, and application teams. Act as SME for junior DBAs and define Database standards and best practices
• Infrastructure Knowledge (OS – Linux/ Windows), Storage (SAN/disk layout) and Networking
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities
• Documentation and communication skills
• Exposure to ERP workloads

KEY SKILLS FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES (Mandatory)

• Microsoft Azure Database Administrator (DP-300)
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
• ITIL Foundation
