Deputy manager - Safety

1. Safety Management & Compliance

Implement company safety policies, procedures, and standards across plant operations.

Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements related to Factories Act, Fire Safety Rules, Environmental & Safety regulations.

Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and gap assessments.

Monitor compliance of safety observations and closure of corrective actions.

2. Fire Prevention & Emergency Management

Develop and implement fire prevention and emergency response plans.

Conduct fire risk assessments across plant areas including kiln, grinding, coal mill, warehouse, electrical rooms, DG area, and fuel storage areas.

Ensure readiness and maintenance of fire protection systems such as hydrant systems, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, and firefighting equipment.

Conduct mock drills and emergency preparedness training.

3. Safety Audits & Risk Assessment

Conduct HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment), JSA (Job Safety Analysis), and unsafe act/condition identification.

Drive implementation of LOTO, work permit systems, confined space safety, work at height safety, and contractor safety management.

Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and preventive action implementation.

4. Contractor & Workforce Safety

Ensure safety induction and periodic training for employees and contract workforce.

Monitor contractor compliance with safety standards.

Conduct toolbox talks and safety awareness programs.

5. Training & Safety Culture Development

Develop safety training calendars and deliver programs on:

Fire safety

PPE usage

Emergency response

Permit to work

LOTO

Working at height

Confined space safety

Promote a proactive safety culture through campaigns and engagement initiatives.

6. Safety Performance Monitoring

Track key safety KPIs:

Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR)

Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR)

Near-miss reporting

Safety audit compliance

Training effectiveness

Prepare MIS reports and safety dashboards for plant leadership.
