Design Engineer - Transmission

Job Summary

The Design Engineer will lead and deliver power system studies across HV/MV/LV networks, coordinating with design teams, clients, and global stakeholders. The role involves technical leadership, study execution using ETAP, quality assurance, budget control, and on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and review power system studies including Load Flow, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, Harmonics, Motor Starting, Protection Coordination, Grounding, Cable Sizing, Grid Integration, and Transient Stability using ETAP


• Prepare study reports, input data requests, and technical documentation


• Conduct grounding grid design, insulation coordination, and protection setting calculations


• Ensure compliance with SEC, Saudi Aramco, IEC, IEEE/ANSI, NEC, and NFPA standards


• Lead technical coordination with clients, internal teams, and global counterparts


• Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality deliverables


• Support proposal preparation, man-hour estimation, and resource planning


• Mentor and provide technical training to junior engineers

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required to Execute this Role

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering


• 5–8 years of experience in T&D and power system studies


• Strong expertise in ETAP (Mandatory)


• Experience with HV/MV/LV steady-state and dynamic studies


• Familiarity with Middle East projects (preferred)


• Knowledge of protection systems and coordination


• Exposure to DIgSILENT, PSCAD, PSS®E, CYMGRD, CYMCAP, Dialux is an advantage


• Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills


• Proficient in written and spoken English
