Working with people in over 200 countries and territories, we are on the ground in more than 100 countries.

We connect. We inspire.

The Role

As a Designer, you will play a key role in delivering user-centred digital experiences that align with the British Council’s design strategy and business objectives. Leveraging expertise in areas such as user experience, content, visual, interaction design, or user research, you will translate business needs into intuitive and engaging design solutions. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, you will ensure that all designs are informed by research, user feedback, and a deep understanding of user needs, behaviours, and interaction patterns.

The role sits within the Digital and Technology Directorate, which leads the British Council’s digital transformation and technology strategy. As part of the Product unit, you will contribute to the development of innovative digital products and services that support a customer-centric agenda. You will collaborate with global teams to create accessible, scalable, and impactful solutions that enhance customer experiences, drive organisational growth, and deliver value through technology, design excellence, and continuous innovation.

The role champions inclusive design practices, promotes user-centred thinking, and contributes to the development of scalable design systems and interaction patterns that enhance consistency and usability across digital platforms.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration with teams across Digital & Technology, Product Management, Marketing, and other business areas. It focuses on identifying opportunities to improve digital experiences through research, analytics, and user feedback, while implementing solutions that enhance usability and customer satisfaction. The role also promotes innovation by leveraging emerging design trends and technologies, provides guidance on user-centred design methodologies, and supports the development of digital capability across the organisation through knowledge sharing, consultancy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
