Java Developer- Transportation Data Pipeline, TDP Operational Experience, GNS & Transcon Products

SUMMARY and RESPONSIBILITIES

The Information Systems- Operational Experience portfolio is responsible for developing core business applications that enable our worldwide network to efficiently manage and transport transcontinental freight.   These systems satisfy customer and organization business requirements and provide solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. The developer understands business problems and opportunities and applies technical skills in the design, development and testing of data flows, applications, and systems.

This position works on the Transportation Data Pipeline (TDP) that bridges multiple application’s data models and maps the differences in business processes to allow our global system to function seamlessly.  This effort is part of Expeditors strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to produce high quality code (e.g., testable/extensible, maintainable) for complex technical solutions
• Experience level - Between 6-12 years of Java backend development experience
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
• Proficiency with the software development lifecycle, especially Agile techniques
• Effective at navigating ambiguity and mitigating risks
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent job-related experience

Desired Qualifications

• Proficient with Spring, Kafka and Kafka Streams
• Experience with Kubernetes (K8s)
• Experience with integration and data transformation in complicated systems
• Experience with XML, Microservices, and Event Driven Architecture
• Experience with IntelliJ IDE’s, Git, Maven, Nexus
• Proficient in driving technical and process improvements
• Understanding of the transportation/global logistics industry

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with Azure Cloud, Google Cloud, AWS or similar
