DevOps Engineer IV (Obs)

Role Purpose

As a DevOps Engineer IV at Jumio, you are expected to be strong in both the “Dev” and “Ops” aspects of DevOps. We are seeking someone with a deep understanding of systems architecture and core computer science concepts, who can reason about system behavior rather than simply working with current toolsets.

This is a high-bar role with significant rewards. As one of our hires in our Bengaluru office, you will help shape the team and culture, collaborate with energetic peers who will challenge and inspire you, and gain considerable international exposure with opportunities for cross-departmental impact.

Role Value

This role is an individual contributor position within the Production team, with some focus on observability to improve reliability of our platform and boost engineer productivity. You will mentor junior engineers and drive collaborative projects across teams.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and administer web services in public cloud environments.
  
  


• Design and develop solutions for secure, highly available, performant, and scalable services in elastic environments.
  
  


• Own all operational aspects of web services: automation, monitoring, alerting, reliability, and performance.
  
  


• Innovate solutions to operational challenges with a direct business impact.
  
  


• Drive resolution and communication during production-impacting incidents.
  
  


• Lead technical projects and ensure project-level deliveries.
  
  


• Collaborate effectively with engineering and business teams across continents.
  
  

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  
  


• 8+ years of professional DevOps / Infrastructure management experience, with 5+ years in AWS.
  
  


• Strong foundation in operating systems, networking, distributed systems, and systems architecture.
  
  


• Proven track record of leading critical DevOps projects.
  
  


• Hands-on expertise with AWS services, orchestration (ECS, EKS), and infrastructure management.
  
  


• Proficiency with observability concepts (logs, metrics, tracing)
  
  


• Experience with SaaS observability platforms (eg Datadog, NewRelic, Honeycomb, Dynatrace…) and building in-house solutions (ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana stack…)
  
  


• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash).
  
  


• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  
  


• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  
  


• Broad exposure to cloud-hosted applications, virtualization platforms, relational/non-relational databases, reverse proxies, and orchestration platforms.
  
  


• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  
  


• Demonstrated curiosity, continuous learning, and drive to raise the technical bar.
  
  

Nice to Have

• Prior experience as a senior developer or application architect.
  
  


• Experience in cloud cost optimization and exposure to FinOps concepts (cost allocation, unit economics…)
  
  


• Experience working in compliance-regulated environments (PCI DSS, ISO 27000, HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR).
