DGM - Group Legal (Litigation & Compliance)

The litigation part of the role involves managing a portfolio of 2000 + cases of the company and some group companies comprising civil, criminal, consumer, recovery and other matters through expertise in formulating and implementing risk-mitigation strategies, leading teams, directing outside counsel, coordinating with business teams.

The compliance part of the role involves advising the business on interpretation of regulatory laws applicable to business operations of a large manufacturing company having factories and operations in multiple states and regulatory requirements. Also requires understanding of business operations related to manufacturing and supply chain and identifying legal risks and suggesting solutions.    

Key Responsibilities

Litigation Management:

• Handle civil, criminal, and commercial court cases.


• Coordinate with external legal counsels and advocates.


• Monitor case progress and manage legal costs.


• Draft legal notices, plaints, written statements, and petitions.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure the company follows all central, state, and local laws.


• Build and update compliance frameworks and checklists.


• Conduct periodic compliance audits.


• Train staff on regulatory updates and corporate policies.


• Advising on employment law related matters

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Laws from a recognized university


• 15 years PQE out of which at least 5 years of court practice and 5 years inhouse experience

Preferred:

• Expertise in employment law


• Experience of handling / advising on disciplinary proceedings
