.1 Digital Strategy, Architecture & Technology Evaluation
• Define the Nagpur plant digital roadmap and reference architecture (ISA-95 / Purdue model) in line with the corporate Manufacturing Digital strategy and Industry 4.0 vision.
• Participate in plant layout, process and equipment design reviews from the pre-construction stage to embed connectivity, data-capture points, network pathways, cabling and space provisions (server / HUB rooms) by design.
2 MES Design, Implementation & Optimization
• Own the end-to-end MES program for the plant: requirements, functional design, configuration / customization, integration, testing (UAT), cut-over, Go-Live and hypercare.
• Implement core MES functions per ISA-95 model: production order and work-order execution, line and station control, genealogy and traceability (vehicle / engine / component / VIN-level), process parameter and recipe management, quality gates and poka-yoke, rework / defect management, material and kitting call-offs, Andon / escalation, OEE and downtime tracking, electronic work instructions and tool / torque / test data management.
• Establish MES performance, availability, DR / backup and release-management practices appropriate for 24x7 production environments.
3 OT Network Architecture & Cybersecurity • Design and implement the plant OT network: segmented, redundant (ring / PRP / HSR as applicable) industrial Ethernet architecture with managed industrial switches, VLAN / IP addressing plan, QoS, time synchronization (NTP / PTP) and structured cabling (copper / fibre).
• Plan and validate industrial Wi-Fi / wireless and, where relevant, private 5G coverage for AGVs / AMRs, handhelds and mobile assets, supported by site surveys and RF design.
• Implement IT–OT segregation with an industrial DMZ, next-generation firewalls, secure remote-access (jump servers, MFA, vendor access management), patching strategy, backup / restore and endpoint hardening.
5 Edge, IIoT, Data & Analytics
• Design edge computing architecture (industrial PCs / gateways / containerized edge platforms) for real-time data acquisition, protocol conversion, local buffering, store-and-forward and edge analytics with centralized management and OTA updates.
• Build the plant data pipeline from sensors and PLCs through edge, historian / time-series database, MES database and enterprise data lake / cloud, ensuring data quality, contextualization, governance and lineage.
7 Leadership & Stakeholder Management • Build, mentor and lead the Manufacturing Digital team at Nagpur; define roles, competency plans and succession for OT / MES / data skills.
• Partner with Plant Head, Manufacturing Heads, CME, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain heads and digital champions for use-case ideation, scoping, prioritization and adoption.
• Coordinate with Corporate IT, Enterprise Applications, Cybersecurity, Asset Management for Manufacturing Digital/IT procurement, integration, security approvals and technical/commercial closure. • Manage OEMs, system integrators and technology partners; drive quality, delivery, knowledge transfer and adherence to standards.
14–18 years of total experience, of which at least 8–10 years in manufacturing IT / MES / OT in automotive or discrete manufacturing, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
Proven end-to-end delivery of at least one MES implementation and one major plant digitization / OT network project; greenfield or large brownfield expansion experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in IT–OT integration, OT network design and OT cybersecurity implementation in an industrial plant.
Experience managing budgets, multiple vendors / SIs and cross-functional teams in a plant or program environment.
Bachelor's degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics / Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechatronics or related field with minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA. Master's degree is an added advantage.
