About the Role:

Rocket Growth – Seller Experience and Growth team has the mission to provide Coupang sellers the utmost convenience of selling and offer Coupang customers the best available selection at the lowest possible price, building best in class seller facing capabilities and services. We are seeking an experienced hands-on, senior leader as a Director of Software Engineering to join us to take our growth engineering strategy to the next level. This technology leader should have a proven track record of designing and building large-scale distributed systems preferably with a background in the E-commerce space, and be an active contributor towards product vision and development. You will be a team leader who will lead the development for improving Rocket Growth's scalability, reliability, availability, extensibility, and performance. As we continue to scale and innovate, you will be working in a fast-paced environment along with a team of smart and passionate global engineers to design and implement various systems to meet the needs of the Rocket Growth business.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of experience. 


• At least 10+ years of experience leading a software development team through multiple product / platform releases.  


• Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective software engineers


• Experience building and operating distributed systems that are highly available. 
  Professional coding experience using modern programming language such as Java, Scala, Kotlin, C++, C#, etc.; strong object-oriented design and algorithmic analysis background. 


• Deep experience building high quality software with the Agile processes: Software
  design, code reviews, QA process. 


• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers


• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy


• A visionary / thought leader who has driven product ideas to successful releases
  A manager of managers with passion for people management and mentorship to grow them.


• Experience influencing software engineering best practices within your team


• Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, ranging from front-end user


• Interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between


• Experience working backwards from the customer and delivering innovative, simple Solutions.

Our Hybrid work model:

Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
