Job Description - Director - Public Relations, Sports

Job Overview

This role is responsible for defining and executing the publicity strategy for JioStar Sports, transforming key sporting properties into culturally relevant conversations that drive awareness, fandom, and viewership. The position leads narrative development, earned media engagement, talent and stakeholder management, and strategic communications around marquee tournaments, athletes, and initiatives. Partnering closely with business, marketing, content, digital, and broadcast teams, the role ensures publicity serves as a key lever in growing audience interest, strengthening brand affinity, and amplifying the impact of JioStar Sports' year-round calendar.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead publicity planning and execution for JioStar Sports' portfolio of tournaments, leagues, and key initiatives.

  •  Develop and execute earned media campaigns that amplify key narratives, drive cultural relevance, and maximize visibility for marquee sporting properties.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, industry stakeholders, talent representatives, and external partners.

  • Identify and create newsworthy storytelling opportunities around tournaments, athletes, experts, and strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and execute media engagement programmes, including press conferences, media roundtables, interviews, and special features.

  • Collaborate with business, marketing, content, digital, and broadcast teams to ensure integrated campaign amplification.

  • Manage publicity agencies and vendors, ensuring effective planning, execution, and reporting.

  • Track media performance, industry trends, and campaign effectiveness to generate actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members while fostering a culture of collaboration and execution excellence.

Key Performance Indicators / Performance Measures

  • Increased earned media visibility and share of voice.

  • Strong narrative ownership across key sporting properties.

  • Enhanced visibility of tournaments, athletes, and strategic initiatives.

  •  Strong National and Regional Sports Media relationships.

  •  Timely and high-quality execution of publicity initiatives.
