We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Editor with a minimum of 10+ years of editorial experience in journalism, publishing, or media. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of curating, editing, and producing compelling content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and engagement for the readers. This role requires a sharp editorial sense, a keen eye for detail, and strong leadership to guide the editorial team while maintaining the highest standards of quality and relevance.

The Editor will play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial vision, overseeing story selection, editing content, ensuring accurate and creative presentation, and maintaining the publication’s competitive edge in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Editorial Planning & Content Management
• Edit articles, refine story structures, and ensure content is accurate, well-written, and engaging.
• Generate and suggest story ideas, provide headlines, captions, and taglines to enhance readability and appeal.
• Select and integrate photographs, graphics, and visual matter to ensure cohesive and informative storytelling.
• Rework and rewrite stories as needed to maintain an error-free, informative, and captivating editorial standard.
• Coordination & Team Collaboration
• Liaise with reporters to gather graphic matter and stories, ensuring complete and balanced coverage of important events.
• Work closely with photographers to select the most impactful visuals that complement and strengthen the narrative.
• Provide guidance to junior writers and editorial staff, helping to maintain consistency in tone, quality, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with design teams to create visually appealing and informative graphics for readers.
• Page Design & Production
• Create page layouts and draw dummies for the assigned edition, ensuring content is organized and visually engaging.
• Decide on story placements, pictures, and page flow to achieve a professional, reader-friendly design.
• Write catchy headlines, adages, and smart taglines to enhance visibility and attract readership.
• Maintain a balance between newsworthiness, reader interest, and visual appeal in page production.
• Market Awareness & News Tracking
• Regularly scan news agencies and competitive publications to ensure no critical stories are missed.
• Prepare a list of relevant stories not covered by reporters, ensuring coverage remains comprehensive and competitive.
• Stay up to date with current affairs, industry trends, and emerging topics to provide innovative editorial inputs.
  

Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional editorial experience in print or digital media.
• Strong command over language, grammar, and storytelling techniques.
• Proven ability to edit, rewrite, and curate stories into polished, reader-friendly content.
• Excellent skills in writing headlines, captions, and taglines that are both catchy and informative.
• Expertise in page layout design, dummy creation, and visual storytelling.
• Experience in liaising with reporters, photographers, designers, and external agencies.
• Strong analytical skills to track news flow, identify gaps, and ensure competitive coverage.
• Proficiency with editorial tools, content management systems, and publishing software.
• Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
