The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Commissioning Management: Oversee the entire commissioning process of electrical systems in datacenters, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and commissioned according to project requirements, standards, and schedules.
• Electrical Systems Testing & Validation: Manage the commissioning of electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), generators, and electrical distribution panels.
• Project Oversight: Plan, coordinate, and lead commissioning activities, working closely with construction, engineering, and operations teams to ensure project objectives are met.
• Power Systems Integration: Ensure that electrical systems integrate seamlessly with mechanical, control, and IT systems, maintaining redundancy and reliability for mission-critical operations.
• Documentation & Reporting: Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, test scripts, and final handover documentation. Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all electrical systems and commissioning processes comply with relevant standards and codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, NFPA, IEEE, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, TIA-942).
• Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT & SAT): Coordinate and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for electrical systems, ensuring all equipment functions correctly before site integration.
• Risk Management & Troubleshooting: Identify potential risks or issues during the commissioning process and implement mitigation strategies. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure the timely and safe completion of commissioning.
• Health & Safety Compliance: deep understanding of safety requirements working around live components , 3-phase AC Power and DC power systems. Ensure all commissioning activities comply with health and safety regulations, creating a safe working environment for all team members and contractors.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor commissioning engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, providing guidance and support throughout the commissioning process.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

The ideal candidate for the Commissioning Engineer position should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Proven track record in commissioning electrical systems such as UPS, RMU, switchgear, generators, Transformers (CT/VT) and power distribution units (PDU) in data centres or other mission-critical environments.
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of low to medium voltage electrical systems, including power distribution, transformers, backup power systems (UPS and generators), and electrical infrastructure for data centres and large office buildings. Experience of 220 KV substation commissioning will be an added advantage.
• Should have knowledge of monitoring & control systems such as SCADA and Electrical Power Management System ( EPMS).
• Good experience of writing Testing Scripts for functional performance testing( FPT) and Integrated System Testing (IST) and leading the team to perform these tests in a datacenter.
• Technical knowledge and experience of commissioning Life Safety systems is desirable.
• Capability to review designs with commissionability perspective is essential.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP), project management tools (e.g., MS Project), and familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
• Knowledge of Commissioning Tools such as Cx Alloy, Procore, Compass and Cloud Platforms (Google, Microsoft, Amazon) and Data Analytics.
• Experience of Auditing an existing facility for indepth health check of installed equipment and systems.
• Project Management: Demonstrated experience managing commissioning schedules, budgets, and resources.
• Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills is required. Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders, contractors, and technical teams.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly.
• Good experience of delivering a complete project lifecycle in the datacenter industry is a plus

Essential Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering ( B. Tech/ B.E. or equivalent)
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in testing & commissioning of power supply and electrical distribution systems covering high, medium and low voltage equipment.
• Experience of commissioning projects in datacenter, Power Oil & Gas or any other mission critical industry.
• Hyderabad, India based or willing to relocate to Hyderabad.
