Job Description - Engineer - GIS Assembly

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead
    and supervise a team of engineers in GIS production and assembly.

  • Ensure
    strict compliance with
    EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) policies
    and procedures.

  • Plan
    and execute daily production schedules for GIS modules, bays.

  • Monitoring
    KPIs
    like Productivity, Efficiency, Utilization Rate, and Reducing
    Leakages

  • Oversee
    assembly and integration of GIS components (enclosures, circuit breakers,
    disconnectors, earthing switches, etc.).

  • Coordinate
    with Quality Assurance to ensure
    zero-defect assembly and adherence
    to IEC standards.

  • Monitor
    equipment, jigs, and fixtures for safe and correct use.

  • Conduct
    first-level troubleshooting of production and testing issues.

  • Drive
    continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) to improve
    efficiency.

  • Train
    and mentor technicians on new processes, tools, and safety practices.

  • Ensure
    documentation accuracy for assembly checklists, test reports, and
    traceability.

  • Support
    Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and customer inspections.

  • Collaborate
    with Planning & Logistics to ensure timely material availability.



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Diploma
    / bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical / production engineering
    (or equivalent).

  • 1-5+
    years’ experience in GIS manufacturing or high-voltage equipment assembly
    (145kV to 800kV).

  • Certified
    training in
    SF₆ handling and EHS compliance preferred.
  • Experience
    in
    team leadership / shift-in-charge roles in a GIS or switchgear
    facility.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong
    knowledge of
    GIS technology (145kV–800kV), high-voltage assembly
    processes, and SF₆ gas handling procedures.

  • Hands-on
    experience in
    mechanical assembly, electrical integration, and HV
    testing
    .
  • Leadership
    and team management skills.

  • Knowledge
    of
    IEC/IEEE standards related to GIS manufacturing and testing.
  • Problem-solving
    and troubleshooting ability in a high-voltage production environment.

  • Familiarity
    with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and quality tools.

  • Effective
    communication and coordination skills.
