Job description: Senior IP Engineer / Patent Engineer (3–5 Years)
Location: HO (Bangalore)

About The Gig:
Simpleenergy is seeking a technically strong Senior IP Engineer / Patent Engineer to drive invention harvesting,
patent drafting, patent prosecution support, and strategic IP initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely
with engineering teams to identify innovations, build a high-value patent portfolio, and align intellectual
property activities with business and technology roadmaps.

What You'll Do:
 Conduct invention harvesting sessions and identify patentable innovations from R&D activities.
 Evaluate invention disclosures and perform patentability assessments.
 Draft high-quality provisional and complete (non-provisional) patent specifications.
 Prepare claims, technical descriptions, embodiments, and invention disclosures.
 Analyse First Examination Reports (FERs) and Office Actions and develop technical responses.
 Coordinate with inventors, patent attorneys, and external counsels throughout the patent lifecycle.
 Support patent prosecution activities in India and international jurisdictions.
 Perform technology assessments, patent landscaping, and white-space analysis.
 Develop strategic IP recommendations aligned with business objectives and product roadmaps.
 Support patent portfolio development, licensing, technology transfer, and commercialization initiatives.

 Promote innovation culture and IP awareness across engineering and business teams.
 Monitor emerging technologies and competitor innovations relevant to the EV ecosystem.

What You Bring:
 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, Mechatronics,
Computer Science, or related Engineering disciplines.
 3–5 years of experience in patent drafting, patent prosecution, and invention harvesting.
 Demonstrated expertise in drafting provisional and complete patent specifications.
 Strong understanding of patent law, claim drafting, patent prosecution, and examination procedures.
 Experience in analysing and responding to FERs, Office Actions, and examiner objections.
 Excellent technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
 Experience in EV technologies, battery systems, motors, power electronics, charging systems,
embedded software, or automotive technologies is highly preferred.
 Registered Indian Patent Agent qualification will be an added advantage.
 Ability to engage effectively with inventors, R&D teams, and leadership stakeholders.
 Strong business acumen and passion for innovation-driven IP strategy.
