Engineer Power Electronics Controls

What you’ll do:

The Controls Engineer’s primary responsibility will be Production Level Controls development for EATON’s  Electrification products on Power electronics and Power distribution portfolio. The position will be involved in many different aspects of the product life-cycle, ranging from product specification, requirements engineering, Design & Development, and validation. Successful candidates will possess the determination required to track down and solve hard to find vehicle level controls issues. 

Applicant shall have experience in design, development of HV and LV Power converters. Applicant shall have exposure of performing analytical design calculations, knowledge of system requirements and validation methods including HILS and vehicle testing. Candidate should have knowledge of vehicle market and technology trends. The candidate must be self-motivated and possess good communication skills. Preferred to have cross functional team working experience (namely engineering, manufacturing, project management, marketing and supply chain).

•    Define Requirements, design, development and testing of electric machine drives specifically for automotive powertrain electrification.
•    Perform software validation in MILS, HILS environment including test plan preparation.
•    Works closely with global and internal team members for Production Software development and integration on Dynamometer and vehicle level environment.
•    Provides guidance and helps controls engineers from the team.
•    Maintain up to date knowledge of new technology and recent development and trends in motor control technologies.  

Qualifications:

Master in Power Electronics or Bachelors in Electrical/Electronics
1-5 years of experience

EDUCATION: Required: Masters degree in Power Electronics or equivalent and relevant experience of 1-3 years in Power converter controls development

Engineer E2S Controls Team.

SkillSets.

•    Expertise in Power Electronics/ Converter algorithm development using Model based design tools like MATLAB/Simulink/Target Link including SIL, MIL and HIL simulation.
•    Experience in plant model simulations for power converters.
•    Support dynamic simulation of electric drive system including performance, losses etc.
•    Design and implement real time embedded software on DSP, microcontroller platform.
•    Experience in testing and tuning of Power converter algorithm on dynamometers and vehicle environment.
•    Proficient with the use of CAN tools like CANalyzer, CANape etc.
•    Awareness of DFSS methodology and tools.
•    Awareness of ASPICE software development process"
