Engineer, Senior - Open Source Compliance

## \nCompany:\n\nQualcomm India Private Limited\n\n## Job Area:\n\nEngineering Group, Engineering Group \u003e Software Engineering\n\nGeneral Summary:\n\n### Qualcomm\u0027s Open Source Engineering team works with internal and external groups to manage their use of open source and third-party software. The team is a multi-disciplinary team with a variety of experience and skills. Your responsibility will be to participate in the analysis of large and complex software code bases, report detected third-party \u0026 open source components and their licenses. This role is focused entirely on supporting open source software development, finding the true origin and license terms of detected third party code.\n\n### This position requires quick handling of urgent requests and requires quick turnaround. Needs to possess experience beyond a single stage in a product life cycle and should be able to demonstrate breadth of knowledge typically obtained after multiple years in the industry.\n\n### \n\n### Responsibilities\n\n * ### Reviewing code to ensure it adheres to the legal guidelines.\n\n * ### Scanning, analyzing code and identifying linkages between modules.\n\n * ### Work closely with developers to create documentation pertaining to the code under review.\n\n * ### Work closely with various legal departments.\n\n * ### Contribute to automation of compliance process.\n\n * ### This position will also help with automating projects that may involve tool development.\n\n\n\n\n### Independence in performing assignments is required. Tasks may include:\n\n * ### Analyze and document a significant high-level design based on incomplete or changing specifications\n\n * ### Defining processes with leads and other stakeholders.\n\n * ### Identifying appropriate simulations or analysis for providing input to system design trade-offs\n\n * ### Partnering with multiple technical teams to define resolution paths\n\n * ### Efficiently schedule time and resources needed to complete assigned tasks\u0027\n\n\n\n\n### \n\n### Candidate Qualifications \n\n### \u2022 2+ years in Python is preferrable.\n\n### \u2022 Good understanding of C/C++ programming and OOPS concepts.\n\n### \u2022 Automation skills (Python, Shell scripting, database prototyping, web interfaces, etc...) \n\n### \u2022 Strong understanding of software development and engineering fundamentals\n\n### \u2022 Strong understanding of source control, packaging, and build system knowledge\n\n### \u2022 Strong Technical understanding of Linux Operating Systems\n\n### \u2022 Strong understanding of build process \u2013 compiler, assembler, linker\n\n### \u2022 Strong understanding of computing, CPU, Memory, operating system function and applications.\n\n### \u2022 Intermediate Embedded Software knowledge\n\n### \u2022 Understanding of GIT source control a plus\n\n### \u2022 Good understanding of Open Source Licensing a plus\n\n### Education Requirements\n\n### Required: Bachelor\u0027s, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent\n\n### \n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. \n \n\u2022 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
