This role involves driving architecture, design, development, and enablement of storage software across multiple Qualcomm chipsets and operating systems. The ideal candidate will combine deep hands\u2011on expertise with system\u2011level thinking, cross\u2011functional leadership, and the ability to influence platform\u2011wide storage direction.\n\n### \n\n### Key Responsibilities\n\n### Technical Leadership \u0026 Architecture\n\n * ### Drive storage software architecture and design across next\u2011generation Qualcomm multiprocessor chipsets.\n\n * ### Work closely with Product Management and Program Management to define new feature requirements, scope deliverables, and drive key performance metrics.\n\n * ### Lead innovation in storage architectures across UFS3/4/5, eMMC, NVMe, NAND, SPI\u2011NOR, SD/SDIO, and related technologies.\n\n * ### Provide technical guidance on performance, scalability, reliability, and power optimization across storage subsystems.\n\n * ### Influence system\u2011level design decisions spanning hardware, firmware, and software.\n\n\n\n\n### Software Design \u0026 Development\n\n * ### Design, develop, and support device drivers and storage frameworks across multiple operating systems including Linux, Windows, and RTOS.\n\n * ### Own and contribute to Linux kernel storage subsystems, including block I/O path, schedulers, memory management interactions, and DMA.\n\n * ### Design and develop file systems, flash management layers, and storage utilities for embedded and external storage devices.\n\n * ### Develop and maintain complex data structures and flash algorithms to optimize storage performance and endurance.\n\n * ### Drive Linux upstream and open\u2011source contributions (Linux, UEFI, Zephyr), ensuring long\u2011term maintainability and standards compliance.\n\n\n\n\n### Debug, Support \u0026 Quality\n\n * ### Lead failure triage, root\u2011cause analysis, and system\u2011level debugging across platforms.\n\n * ### Leverage kernel debugging tools such as debugfs, ftrace, blktrace, and other instrumentation frameworks.\n\n * ### Ensure high software quality across the full software development life cycle, from requirements and design through commercialization and post\u2011launch support.\n\n\n\n\n### Cross\u2011Functional Collaboration\n\n * ### Collaborate closely with hardware designers, validation teams, customer engineering, and dependent software teams.\n\n * ### Act as a technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on storage\u2011related features and issues.\n\n * ### Support customer enablement and issue resolution for complex storage use cases.\n\n\n\n\n### Team \u0026 Project Leadership\n\n * ### Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers.\n\n * ### Support people management activities (for ~5\u20136 engineers); prior experience leading larger teams is a strong plus.\n\n * ### Drive project planning, task breakdown, estimation, prioritization, and execution tracking.\n\n * ### Ensure delivery predictability, quality, and risk mitigation across projects.\n\n\n\n\n### \n\n### Required Qualifications\n\n * ### Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in ECE, EEE, CSE, or a related field.\n\n * ### 12\u201314 years of experience in embedded systems and device driver development.\n\n * ### Strong hands\u2011on experience with storage technologies, including:\n\n * ### UFS, eMMC, SD/SDIO\n\n * ### NAND, SPI\u2011NOR\n\n * ### NVMe, SDXpress\n\n * ### Deep expertise in embedded C programming, including:\n\n * ### Data structures and algorithms\n\n * ### System\u2011level programming (file handling, multithreading, synchronization)\n\n * ### Strong experience with OS kernel and device driver development (Linux / Windows / RTOS).\n\n * ### Solid understanding of:\n\n * ### Storage software stacks and block I/O path\n\n * ### Page cache, buffer cache, virtual memory\n\n * ### MMU and DMA concepts\n\n * ### Hands\u2011on experience with Linux Block Subsystem and I/O schedulers\n\n * ### Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.\n\n\n\n\n### \n\n### Preferred Qualifications\n\n * ### Experience contributing to or working closely with Linux upstream, UEFI, or Zephyr communities.\n\n * ### Experience with real\u2011time and embedded operating systems, including Zephyr RTOS.\n\n * ### Exposure to multi\u2011SoC platform enablement and customer\u2011facing storage issues.\n\n * ### Prior people leadership or mentoring experience at Staff/Senior Staff level.\n\n\n\n\n### \n\n### Senior Staff Level Expectations\n\n * ### Recognized technical expert in storage software and architecture.\n\n * ### Drives platform\u2011level impact across multiple products and teams.\n\n * ### Operates effectively in high\u2011ambiguity problem spaces with minimal direction.\n\n * ### Influences technical direction beyond immediate team boundaries.\n\n\n\n\n### Acts as a technical multiplier through mentorship and architectural leadership\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \n \n\u2022 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
