Job Description :Location : ChennaiDepartment : EngineeringJob Type : Full-Time Job Summary :The Engineering Manager-2 is a mid-level management position responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, and maintenance of complex projects and systems. The role involves overseeing engineering processes, ensuring quality standards, and driving the technical strategy to align with company objectives. The Engineering Manager-2 will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions and enhance productivity.Key Responsibilities :Team Leadership and Development :- Manage, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify professional development opportunities for team members.- Lead recruitment efforts, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new team members.Project Management :- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet scope, quality, and timeline requirements.- Coordinate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and priorities.- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.Technical Leadership :- Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, promoting best practices and innovative solutions.- Review and approve technical designs, code, and documentation to ensure quality and compliance with standards.- Extensive experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, DevOps).- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating relevant advancements into the team's work.Process Improvement :- Implement and refine engineering processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.- Utilize metrics and feedback to continuously improve team performance and project outcomes.- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage experimentation and learning.Collaboration and Communication :- Act as a liaison between the engineering team and other departments, ensuring effective communication and alignment.- Present project updates, technical insights, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.- Promote a collaborative environment that supports shared goals and mutual success.Qualifications :Education : Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience : - 8+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field.- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role.- Proven track record of managing and delivering complex engineering projects.Skills :- Strong technical expertise in - programming languages -(Backend Java, Python , JavaScript) and front end - (Android/IOS/ Angular).- Experience with AI/ML will be an add on.- Experience with cloud computing platforms- AWS.- Experience with software architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, serverless, monolithic).- Strong understanding of the product lifecycle from concept to deployment and maintenance.- Proficiency in database design and management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing).- Proficiency in automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible).- Excellent leadership and team management skills.- Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.- Effective communication and interpersonal skills (ref:hirist.tech)
