ETL Tester

Responsibilities:

• Understand and analyze business requirements, data models, and ETL specifications to design comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  
• Develop and execute various types of tests, including functional testing, data validation testing, performance testing, and regression testing for ETL processes.
  
• Write and execute SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and validate data against source systems, staging areas, and target data warehouses.
  
• Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking tools, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
  
• Participate in test planning, test execution, and defect triage meetings.
  
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of test data and test environments.
  
• Automate test cases where appropriate to improve efficiency and test coverage.
  
• Collaborate effectively with data engineers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality data solutions.
  
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in ETL testing and data quality assurance.
  

Qualifications:

• 6 + years of experience in ETL testing or data warehousing testing.  
  
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  
• Solid understanding of ETL concepts, data warehousing principles, and dimensional modeling (e.g., Star Schema, Snowflake Schema).
  
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Talend, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, or similar technologies.
  
• Familiarity with data quality concepts and tools.
  
• Experience with test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, HP ALM).
  
• Exposure to test automation frameworks and tools is a plus.
  
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.  
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
  
• Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting for test automation.
  
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
  
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
