This role is designed for a rare class of engineers who consistently operate at a very high level of ownership, speed, and technical excellence. You will work on a globally adopted open-source observability platform that helps engineering teams gain deep visibility into metrics, logs, and traces in real time. The environment is fast-moving, highly technical, and driven by builders who care deeply about shipping impactful systems. You will contribute to core product areas that directly influence how modern teams monitor and debug distributed applications at scale. This is not a maintenance role—it is about building foundational developer infrastructure used by thousands of engineering teams worldwide. Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and ship high-impact features across core observability systems including metrics, logs, and distributed tracing
- Take end-to-end ownership of complex engineering problems, from scoping and design through to production deployment and iteration
- Build scalable, reliable systems capable of supporting rapid user and data growth in production environments
- Identify architectural gaps and proactively improve system design, performance, and maintainability
- Collaborate closely with other engineers to define technical direction and raise engineering standards across the team
- Debug and resolve critical production issues with speed, precision, and strong systems thinking
- Contribute to open-source development and engage with a global developer community
- Balance speed and craftsmanship, shipping quickly while maintaining high-quality code and thoughtful design decisions
- Continuously improve engineering processes, tooling, and developer experience across the stack
Requirements:
- Proven track record as a high-performing software engineer in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong ability to design and build scalable distributed systems that operate reliably under real-world load
- Demonstrated experience owning systems through growth phases, including performance bottlenecks and production challenges
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to handle ambiguity and independently drive solutions
- Strong engineering judgment with the ability to make sound trade-offs between speed, scalability, and complexity
- Experience building or contributing to large-scale systems, developer tools, or infrastructure products is highly valued
- Familiarity with observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces) and related technologies is a plus
- Exposure to technologies such as OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, or ClickHouse is advantageous
- Strong coding skills and ability to work across the stack when needed
- Evidence of strong technical curiosity through side projects, open-source contributions, or impactful engineering work
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, ownership-driven mindset
