Job Description - Executive - HVAC MEP Estimator

The HVAC & MEP Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, assessing material and labor costs, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

Should be using Procore Software for generating Estimates.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in HVAC and/or MEP estimating.
Strong understanding of MEP systems, materials, and construction methods.
Proficiency in estimating software (such as Bluebeam, Accubid, Trimble, or PlanSwift).
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Work Environment & Salary:

Typically works in an office setting with occasional site visits.

Requirements

Estimate Preparation:

Review project blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Determine material, equipment, and labor costs.
Develop project budgets and timelines.

Bid Preparation & Submission:

Analyze project scope to prepare competitive bid proposals.
Review RFQs (Request for Quotations) and RFPs (Request for Proposals).
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing and availability.
Ensure timely submission of accurate bids.

Cost Analysis & Value Engineering:

Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials/methods.
Perform value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.

Collaboration & Coordination:

Work with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to refine estimates.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits for project understanding.
Communicate with clients and stakeholders regarding cost implications.

Market & Industry Research:

Stay updated with industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
Evaluate historical data for more accurate forecasting.
