The role requires deep hands-on experience with inverter hardware, advanced understanding of power electronics, and the ability to troubleshoot and analyze failures across all major inverter components. The expert will lead fault investigations, support site teams, and manage technical aspects of warranty, LTSA, insurance, and spare part strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Inverter Diagnostics, Repair & Maintenance:

  • Perform hands-on repair and maintenance of inverter systems, including component-level troubleshooting and replacement.

  • Lead hands-on repair and component-level troubleshooting of string and central inverters.

  • Diagnose and resolve faults across major components:

  • IGBT modules – thermal stress, gate drive issues

  • DC bus capacitors – aging, ripple instability

  • AC filters – harmonic distortion, overheating

  • MPPT controllers – underperformance due to mismatch or sensor errors

  • Cooling systems – fan or liquid cooling failures causing derating

  • Control boards & DSPs – firmware corruption, signal loss

  • Communication interfaces – RS485/CAN/Ethernet faults

  • Grounding systems – insulation resistance failures, EMI

  • Firing angle control – waveform distortion, switching errors

  • Conduct electrical testing, thermal imaging, firmware diagnostics, and validate post-repair performance.

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring faults and document corrective actions.

Root Cause Analysis & OEM Engagement:

  • Lead detailed RCAs for inverter failures, recurring faults, and performance degradation.

  • Document failure mechanisms, contributing factors, and corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with OEMs for technical clarifications, warranty claims, and design feedback.

  • Support OEM change management by evaluating technical compatibility and performance history.

Warranty, LTSA & Insurance Support:

  • Manage technical aspects of warranty claims, including documentation, failure evidence, and OEM coordination.

  • Support LTSA (Long-Term Service Agreement) reviews and performance audits.

  • Provide input for insurance claims related to inverter failures, lightning damage, or grid-related events.

  • Recommend replacement strategies for obsolete or underperforming inverter models.

Spare Parts Strategy & Procurement Support:

  • Define spare parts maintenance strategies based on failure trends and criticality.

  • Identify high-risk components and recommend stocking levels for IGBTs, fans, sensors, and control boards.

  • Support spare procurement planning by evaluating vendor reliability, compatibility, and warranty coverage.

Site-Level Technical Support:

  • Act as the first line of technical support for site teams during inverter breakdowns and performance anomalies.

  • Provide on-site guidance during inverter commissioning, upgrades, and major maintenance campaigns.

  • Analyze inverter logs, fault codes, grid interface parameters, and SCADA data to support diagnostics.

Monitoring Platforms & Diagnostic Tools:

  • Use inverter monitoring platforms and SCADA systems to detect early failures and optimize performance.

  • Interpret data trends to identify component stress, thermal anomalies, and grid compliance issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the engineering department and internal solar PV technology experts to align on inverter maintenance strategies and reliability improvements.

  • Share field insights and RCA findings to support design enhancements and future procurement strategies.

Process Standardization & Compliance:

  • Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inverter diagnostics, repair, and reporting.

  • Ensure all interventions and technical findings are documented in compliance with internal governance and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or related field.

  • Minimum 10–15 years of hands-on experience in solar PV inverter systems, with proven expertise in both string and central inverter technologies.

  • Strong experience in component-level diagnostics and repair of inverter systems.

  • Proven track record in conducting RCAs and working directly with inverter OEMs and factory engineering teams.

  • Experience in warranty management, LTSA technical reviews, insurance claim support, and spare part strategy development.

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, inverter monitoring platforms, and electrical testing equipment.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Competencies:

  • Hands-on inverter troubleshooting and component-level repair

  • Inverter failure diagnostics and RCA execution

  • MPPT underperformance and derating detection

  • Firing angle and waveform control diagnostics

  • OEM collaboration and change management

  • Warranty, LTSA, and insurance technical support

  • Spare parts strategy and procurement planning

  • Site-level technical leadership and support

  • Inverter topology and control system knowledge

  • Monitoring platform and diagnostic tool expertise

  • SOP development and process standardization

  • Technical advisory and stakeholder support

  • Safety and compliance awareness

  • Cross-functional collaboration
