Field Engineer

Position Summary

The Field Engineer – IT is responsible for onsite installation,
configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical
support of IT infrastructure and related products at customer sites and onboard
vessels. This role requires hands‑on expertise in remote desktop services,
servers, virtualization, cybersecurity solutions, firewalls, networking
equipment, and other IT systems. The engineer will also handle escalated
technical issues and ensure the stability, security, and performance of
installed systems.

 Key Responsibilities

IT Systems
& Software

• Install printers and scanners
  with respective onboard computers.
  
• Deploy and configure pre‑configured
  computers with network connectivity.
  
• Set up common folders and enable
  sharing across all network PCs.
  
• Install essential software (MS
  Office, Adobe, WinRAR, ESM Browser, etc.).
  
• Configure internal mail accounts
  on all onboard PCs.
  

Infrastructure & Networking

• Perform
  onsite installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of IT
  products.
  
• Troubleshoot
  Remote Desktop Services (RDS), connectivity, and performance issues.
  
• Install
  and configure servers, VMs, and domain infrastructure.
  
• Configure
  and maintain firewalls (Net gear, Cisco Basic, Microtek, Marpoint,
  FutureKonnect, HAMS).
  
• Troubleshoot
  LAN/WAN, routing, and connectivity issues.
  
• Configure
  GTReplication and related file replication systems.
  

Cybersecurity

• Deploy
  and troubleshoot endpoint security and antivirus solutions (GT Sentinel,
  PortIT, Vanirlite AV, Datto EDR, CrowdStrike).
  
• Support
  cybersecurity incidents and coordinate with remote support teams.
  

CCTV Systems

• Install,
  configure, commission, and troubleshoot CCTV systems onboard vessels.
  
• Set up
  cameras, NVR/DVR, PoE switches, cabling, and accessories.
  
• Perform
  upgrades, preventive maintenance, and fault rectification.
  
• Configure
  CCTV systems for remote monitoring and conduct system handovers.
  

Field Service & Project Execution

• Conduct
  preventive maintenance, health checks, and equipment replacement.
  
• Coordinate
  with customers, vessel crew, agents, and internal teams.
  
• Prepare
  installation, service, commissioning, and configuration reports.
  
• Ensure
  compliance with company procedures and project requirements.
  
• Travel
  to customer sites and vessels as required. 
  

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong
  hands‑on IT field support experience.
  
• Knowledge
  of computer hardware, peripherals, and network configuration.
  
• Expertise
  in RDS, servers, VMs, and domain infrastructure.
  
• Practical
  experience with firewall installation and troubleshooting.
  
• Knowledge
  of LAN/WAN, routing, and connectivity.
  
• Cybersecurity
  monitoring and incident handling.
  
• Familiarity
  with replication, antivirus, and EDR solutions.
  
• Strong
  documentation, reporting, and customer‑facing skills.
  
• Ability
  to work independently and travel frequently.
  

Additional Advantage

Knowledge of marine communication equipment installation, configuration,
and maintenance onboard vessels will be considered an added advantage.
