Financial Controller

Position Summary:
The Controller plays a critical leadership role in managing the financial health of the Company. This role oversees all accounting and tax functions, cost accounting, inventory control, and financial reporting (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The Controller partners with the local operations and the Parent company to drive profitability, support strategic decision -making, align tools and procedures and maintain robust internal controls.
Role: Full Time, on site | Location: Chennai.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
• Lead and manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, cash, and financial reporting.
• Timely submission of all compliance reports to the Government departments with regards to PF, GST, customs, Direct Tax indirect Tax and others if any.
• Oversee cost accounting functions including goods purchases, labor cost, other operating expenses.
• Monitor inventory valuation, physical counts, and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and minimize shrinkage or write -offs.
• Monitor cash collection and cash management.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year -end financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year -end returns (challan) to the Indian tax (direct and indirect) and social authorities.
• Work closely with Managing Director to analyze margins by client, margins by part number and performance indicators (KPIs).
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process; track actuals vs. budget and explain variances.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with Group policies.
• Coordinate with our Parent company.
• Coordinate audits with external chartered accountants, auditors and manage tax compliance with external consultants.
• Provide financial analysis to support decisions on capital expenditure and operational improvements.
• Reconcile all accounts on the balance sheet such as bank, payroll benefits, inventories, custom duties, GST, taxes, etc.
• Verify and reconcile account payable and receivable balance with general ledger; calculate DSO and DPO indicators.
• Manage the accountant in charge of custom duties and shipping documents. Coordinate with the logistics team.
• Lead, train, and develop accounting staff.

Requirements
Qualifications, Requirements:
Education: CA clear / Inter or relevant Finance Degree
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting and distribution operations (including imports), by preference in the Pharma industry.
• Exposure to Bonded Warehouse operations and compliances would be an added advantage.
• Experience with ERP systems (TALLY and SAGE by preference).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to work cross -functionally with supply chain, sales force and leadership teams.
