Embedded / Firmware Engineer (3–5 Years Experience)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Embedded / Firmware Engineer with hands-on experience in Qualcomm based platforms to design, develop, and maintain low-level firmware and embedded software. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working close to hardware,collaborating with Cross functional teams, and contributing to a modern CI/CD-driven development environment.

This Ramp up Sr.  Engineer (Firmware/embedded software) works on developing firmware for minimally invasive visualization products, including digital image & video capturing devices. This individual works with Ramp and cross functional teams to drive a product from conception through production and commercial launch, and support postlaunch sustaining activities.

Essential Functions:

Designs firmware/embedded software for Stryker products: Creates software requirements specification. Generates architectural and detailed design documents from requirements.

Generates firmware to implement the design. Performs unit testing of developed firmware, including static and dynamic analysis. Performs integration testing and debugging. Assists in product verification and validation activities. Participates in product design reviews and in software process development activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware and low-level software for Qualcomm based platforms


• Work on board bring-up, bootloader, BSP customization, and peripheral integration


• Develop and optimize firmware for performance, power, reliability, and memory usage Interface with hardware teams to debug system-level issues


• Customize and maintain Qualcomm SDKs, drivers, and middleware


• Perform root-cause analysis of firmware, kernel, or hardware interaction issues


• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices


• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions


• Integrate firmware builds and tests into Git-based CI/CD pipelines


• Support production releases and provide post-release issue resolution

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Embedded & Firmware Technical Skills – Required


• Bachelor or higher degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science


• 3–5 years of experience in embedded / firmware development


• Strong proficiency in C and C++


• Hands-on experience with Qualcomm QCS6490 or similar Qualcomm SoCs


• Experience with Android BSPs AOSP or Qualcomm Linux SDKs


• Experience with Linux / Embedded Linux / Yocto-based systems


• Good understanding of:

1. Bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot)


2. Device trees


3. Drivers and BSPs


4. Memory management and inter-process communication

• Familiarity with hardware interfaces: UART, I2C, SPI, USB, GPIO, Ethernet, WiFi


• Experience on interfaces like Ethernet (10/100/1000), RS232/UART, Digital I/O, Analog I/O


• Strong board level troubleshooting skills and understanding of hardware-software interaction


• Designing and understanding software architectures and application layers


• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills


• Tools &; Development Workflow


• Strong experience using GitLab for source control (branching, merging, rebasing)


• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)


• Experience using CI/CD runners for automated:

1. Builds


2. Static analysis


3. Unit/integration testing


4. Comfortable with scripting for automation (Bash, Python preferred)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of secure boot, OTA updates, and image signing


• Exposure to camera, multimedia, AI/ML acceleration, or ISP pipelines on Qualcomm platforms


• Experience working with JTAG debuggers, logic analysers, or oscilloscopes


• Familiarity with Docker-based CI/CD environments


• Prior experience in productization and mass-production support
