The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role is inspired by the forward-deployed model, where engineers and strategists work directly within enterprise environments to drive transformation from the inside. Adapted for an AI-driven logistics context, this is not a traditional engineering role—it sits at the intersection of strategy, product, and execution.
As an FDE, you will be embedded within one or two strategic enterprise accounts, taking full ownership of their AI transformation journey. This role requires the ability to engage at the CXO level on strategic initiatives while also driving hands-on implementation and adoption at the operational level.
This is a highly generalist role suited for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong AI fluency, and the ability to navigate complex organizations. While prior software engineering experience is not mandatory, strong technical competence—particularly in AI tools, agent workflows, and data pipelines—is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Account Ownership: Act as the primary point of accountability for assigned enterprise accounts, owning transformation roadmaps, delivery, and business outcomes
Transformation Planning: Design end-to-end AI transformation strategies by assessing current logistics operations, identifying automation opportunities, and defining measurable execution plans
Solution Deployment: Configure and deploy AI agents, automation workflows, and platform solutions; collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to ensure production readiness
Stakeholder Management: Build and manage relationships across all levels—from executive leadership to operational teams and system administrators
Program Management: Oversee end-to-end delivery, including timelines, dependencies, change management, and go-live execution
Product Feedback Loop: Convert on-ground insights into structured product feedback; identify patterns and influence product roadmap decisions
Playbook Development: Document best practices, solution patterns, and scalable frameworks for reuse across accounts and geographies
Candidate Profile
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Experience building, owning, or leading initiatives end-to-end; strong sense of accountability and ownership
AI-Native Approach: Hands-on experience using AI tools, building workflows, and working with models (e.g., GPT, Claude) and agent frameworks
Technical Competence: Ability to work with APIs, data pipelines, and AI configurations; comfortable collaborating deeply with engineering teams
Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage complex relationships across large, hierarchical organizations
Structured Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down ambiguous challenges into clear, actionable plans
Preferred Background
Experience in consulting (MBB), global capability centers, or roles involving large-scale enterprise transformation
Strong technical pedigree with exposure to high-growth technology environments
Degree from a top-tier institution
Organizational Context & Growth This role sits within the AI Platform & Growth function and offers a clear path toward strategic leadership. As the function scales, senior FDEs will have the opportunity to build and lead account-focused teams, including associates and implementation specialists.
