This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Founding Engineer (Distributed Systems) - Oodle in India.
This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage, high-ambition infrastructure startup as a core founding engineer shaping the future of large-scale observability systems. You will help design and build a next-generation platform capable of handling logs, metrics, and traces at massive scale with radically improved cost efficiency and performance. The role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, storage engines, and high-performance backend engineering, where every design decision directly impacts scalability and product direction. You will work closely with experienced founders who have built and scaled products at leading global technology companies. This is a highly hands-on role where you will move fluidly between system design, implementation, customer discovery, and technical experimentation. You will also play a foundational role in defining engineering culture and product philosophy. The environment is fast-moving, deeply technical, and highly ownership-driven.
Accountabilities
- Design and build core components of a distributed observability platform handling logs, metrics, and traces at large scale.
- Architect and optimize backend systems and storage engines for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
- Develop highly reliable distributed systems with a focus on low-latency processing and high-throughput data ingestion.
- Contribute across the full product lifecycle, including prototyping, system design, implementation, testing, and iteration.
- Engage directly with users and stakeholders to understand requirements, reduce ambiguity, and refine product direction.
- Experiment with system-level improvements, continuously pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency.
- Help define engineering practices, culture, and foundational technical standards for a rapidly growing team.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on distributed systems, databases, or storage systems.
- Proven experience designing and building large-scale backend or infrastructure systems.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Java, C++, Scala, Python, or Rust.
- Deep understanding of system design principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership, curiosity, and a drive to build impactful products from the ground up.
- Ability to work in ambiguous environments, balancing experimentation with disciplined execution.
- Strong problem-solving skills and passion for tackling complex technical challenges.
- Experience with observability systems or related infrastructure domains is a strong plus.
