We are building a next-generation Vertical AI Sales Platform that redefines how sales teams operate — combining conversational intelligence, workflow automation, and deep system integrations to deliver autonomous, high-performance sales execution.
As the Founding Platform Architect – Backend Systems, you will design and own the core infrastructure powering real-time voice agents, conversational workflows, campaign orchestration, CRM synchronization, and analytics engines. This is a foundational role with end-to-end ownership across architecture, scalability, and technical direction.
You will work directly with the founder to shape long-term system design, engineering culture, and platform scalability — with meaningful ESOP participation and the opportunity to architect the backbone of a fast-growing AI-native SaaS company.
What You’ll Own
Core Platform Architecture
Design scalable backend systems supporting real-time voice, chat, and AI-driven workflows.
Architect modular, extensible services for campaign automation, lead lifecycle management, and reporting pipelines.
Define clean service boundaries and scalable microservices architecture.
Establish engineering standards for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Real-Time & Event-Driven Infrastructure
Build event-driven systems using queues, streaming workflows, background workers, and webhook-driven integrations.
Develop low-latency pipelines for telephony events, AI responses, and conversational state management.
Implement fault-tolerant retry logic, rate limiting, idempotency, and backpressure handling.
Data & Performance Engineering
Design efficient data models optimized for high-volume lead and interaction data.
Optimize database queries, indexing strategies, and transactional workflows.
Implement intelligent caching strategies (Redis or similar) to minimize latency and improve throughput.
Continuously profile and improve system performance under scale.
AI & External Integrations
Integrate with telephony providers, messaging systems (including WhatsApp), CRM platforms, and scheduling tools.
Build robust integrations with LLM APIs, STT/TTS engines, and AI inference endpoints.
Develop abstractions for AI orchestration while ensuring observability and reliability.
Reliability & DevOps Ownership
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for production-grade reliability.
Establish CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployment strategies.
Contribute to infrastructure decisions across AWS/GCP environments.
Own incident response processes and system health metrics.
Strategic Contribution
Partner with the founder on product roadmap and technical strategy.
Make long-term architectural decisions that support multi-year scalability.
Influence hiring standards, engineering processes, and technical culture.
What Makes You Exceptional
Strong backend engineering experience in Python.
Hands-on experience with Django, FastAPI, or similar backend frameworks.
Deep understanding of RESTful API design, authentication, and scalable service architecture.
Experience building real-time systems with event-driven architecture and message brokers.
Practical knowledge of Redis, caching strategies, and database optimization.
Exposure to distributed systems and high-throughput environments.
Familiarity with AI integrations including LLM APIs, embeddings, and STT/TTS systems.
Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployment (AWS or GCP).
Comfort operating in a startup environment with high ownership and minimal oversight.
