Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Full Stack Web Developer to join our dynamic team to build data-rich web platforms for environmental, weather, and air-quality intelligence. You will develop end-to-end applications — from interactive, map-driven dashboards built with React/Next.js and TypeScript, to high-performance Python (FastAPI) and Node.js backend services that process large scientific and geospatial datasets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deploy scalable, cloud-native web solutions.
Responsibilities:
Develop highly secure, efficient, scalable and reliable web applications end-to-end.
Build responsive, data-rich user interfaces using React.js, Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
Create interactive map and visualization components (e.g., Leaflet / react-leaflet) for geospatial and time-series data such as weather forecasts and air-quality measurements.
Design and implement efficient, well-documented REST APIs using Python (FastAPI) and/or Node.js to enable smooth data flow between frontend and backend systems.
Build backend services and pipelines that ingest, process, and serve large scientific datasets (e.g., using pandas, NumPy, xarray) from external APIs and data sources.
Containerize applications with Docker / docker-compose and deploy them to cloud environments, including Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Cloud Scheduler).
Automate scheduled data-fetching, processing, and reporting jobs, with proper secrets management and monitoring.
Optimize web applications and APIs for maximum performance, caching, and scalability.
Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following industry best practices and coding standards.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging to identify and fix issues before deployment.
Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, Domain Scientists, and Developers to deliver compelling user-facing products.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies (including AI-assisted development workflows) and propose improvements and innovative solutions.
Work in an Agile/Scrum development environment, participate in sprint planning, and deliver projects on time.
Requirements:
Bachelor's/Master's degree (Any Stream).
Proven experience as a Full Stack Web Developer building production web applications.
Strong proficiency in frontend technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, and Next.js.
Solid backend experience with Python (FastAPI/Flask) and/or Node.js (Express.js), including designing RESTful APIs.
Experience working with data-processing libraries such as pandas and NumPy, and handling structured data formats (JSON, CSV, Excel).
Experience with database technologies like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or SQLite.
Working knowledge of Docker and container-based development and deployment.
Strong understanding of the basic web technology stack (HTTP, WebSockets, APIs) and the Linux operating system.
Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git, and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with mapping and geospatial visualization libraries (Leaflet, Mapbox, or similar) and charting libraries.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform — Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Cloud Scheduler, Secret Manager
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
Familiarity with scientific/meteorological data formats and tools (NetCDF, GRIB, xarray, matplotlib, cartopy).
Familiarity with authentication and authorization mechanisms, such as JWT and cookies.
Experience building real-time applications with Apache Kafka / Redis.
Knowledge of Kubernetes and infrastructure automation.
Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) effectively in a professional workflow.
