Function: Finance & Accounts (Controllership)

Reporting To: AVP – Finance / CFO India
Role Level: Senior Management (Controller / Country Finance Lead)
Role Purpose
The Finance Controller – India is accountable for end‑to‑end controllership covering statutory accounting, direct and indirect taxation, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit management for India operations.
The role ensures accuracy, compliance, governance, and reporting integrity while partnering closely with global finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Close
- Own end‑to‑end India statutory accounting and month‑end / year‑end close.
- Ensure accurate general ledger, reconciliations, and financial records.
- Oversee preparation and review of India financial statements in compliance with Ind AS and applicable accounting standards.
- Partner with global teams for alignment with US GAAP / group reporting requirements where applicable.
2. Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review statutory, management, and regulatory reports for India.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal leadership and global stakeholders.
- Support segment, cost‑plus, and intercompany reporting requirements.
3. Taxation (Direct & Indirect)
- Own direct tax and indirect tax (GST) compliance for India operations.
- Ensure timely filing of income tax returns, GST returns, and statutory filings.
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation, assessments, and audits.
- Partner with tax advisors on tax planning, assessments, and litigation support.
4. Audit, Controls & Governance
- Lead statutory audits, tax audits, and internal audits for India.
- Ensure strong internal control framework and audit‑ready documentation.
- Own remediation of audit findings and continuous strengthening of controls.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, FEMA, SEZ/STPI, and other regulatory requirements.
5. Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary finance contact for India controllership matters.
- Partner with global finance, FP&A, tax, treasury, and operations teams.
- Support leadership with financial insights, risk identification, and decision support.
6. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop India controllership teams across accounting, tax, and reporting.
- Drive capability building, process standardization, and operational discipline.
- Manage external consultants, auditors, and tax advisors.
7. SEZ / STPI and other Compliances
- Knowledge of SEZ monthly and Softex filings; APR Filings
- Monthly / Quarterly / Annual Filings with STPI; Bond J16 working knowledge.
- Treasury – EDPMS submission and clearances
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Ind AS, Indian statutory accounting, and taxation
- Hands‑on experience with statutory audits and tax audits
- Strong understanding of internal controls and governance
- Ability to operate in GCC / multinational environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills

Minimum Qualification – Masters in Finance or equivalent/ CA / ICMA;

Experience

- 12–18+ years of experience in India accounting, tax, and controllership
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) preferred
