Our client is a successful German company and part of a renowned Swiss group in the sports and lifestyle sector. With around 1,500 employees and a revenue in the high three-digit million range, the company is a leader in the development, production, and marketing of high-quality branded shoes. It stands out for its economic stability, growth orientation, and a culture of appreciation and open leadership. The plant is located in the attractive region of Tamil Nadu, India.

THE POSITION

As General Manager (m/f/d) India, you will report directly to the spokesperson of the management board in Germany and will be responsible for the entire plant, overseeing the following departments:

• Cutting Department Manager
• Sewing Department Manager
• Assembly Department Manager
• Finishing and Quality Control Department Manager
• Development
• Commercial Administration
• Procurement
• Quality Assurance

The plant employs approximately 700 people. This position is being filled as part of a classical succession planning, with the previous incumbent having successfully held the role for over many years.

THE TASKS

The fundamental goal of this position is to manage the plant with a focus on quality, productivity, and profitability. Specifically, this entails:

• Leading, motivating, and developing the plant’s employees
• Ensuring smooth process flows
• Continuous process improvement
• Coordinating production to adhere to specifications and standards, particularly regarding:
• Quantity
• Quality
• Costs
• Safety standards
• Environmental standards
• Increasing productivity by optimizing the interaction between procurement and production as well as upstream and downstream processes, using key performance indicators
• Conducting supplier audits
• Collaborating closely with the management in Germany
• Coordinating closely with colleagues in Romania and the quality management team at the headquarters
