Assistant Manager – Demand Planning - Your future position?

Purpose

As Assistant Manager – Demand Planning, you’re responsible for forecasting customer demand, managing inventory levels, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal supply chain performance. They analyze historical data, market trends, and statistical models to develop accurate demand forecasts and implement strategies to minimize excess inventory and prevent stockouts. This role also involves monitoring demand patterns, adjusting forecasts based on real-time data, and preparing reports for key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing and Maintaining Demand Forecasts:

• Utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and market insights to create accurate demand forecasts for products and services.

Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams:

• Working with sales, marketing, and operations teams to align demand planning with business objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.

Inventory Management:

• Monitoring inventory levels, adjusting forecasts to optimize stock availability, and developing strategies to minimize excess inventory and reduce waste.

Process Improvement:

• Identifying opportunities for process improvements within demand planning and inventory management, such as implementing new forecasting tools or streamlining processes.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Preparing and presenting demand plans and reports to key stakeholders, highlighting insights and actionable recommendations.

Team Leadership (Depending on role):

• Leading and mentoring a team of demand planners, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Monitoring and Adapting:

• Continuously monitoring demand patterns, adjusting forecasts based on real-time data, and incorporating new information into the demand planning process.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Serving as a liaison between different departments, ensuring alignment on demand planning goals and objectives.

Your professional profile includes:

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent)


• 6 years of relevant experience in demand planning, supply chain planning, or related roles.


• Strong analytical and statistical skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop accurate forecasts.


• Proficiency in forecasting software and tools: Experience with statistical modeling software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and other demand planning tools.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.


• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills: Ability to identify and address issues related to demand planning and inventory management.


• Understanding of supply chain management principles: Knowledge of inventory management, logistics, and other supply chain functions.


• Leadership and mentoring skills (if leading a team): Ability to motivate and develop a team of demand planners.
