Global Data Analytics Leader - Internal Audit
Job Summary
The Global Data Analytics Leader in Internal Audit is responsible for leading the internal audit analytics strategy, developing scalable analytics capabilities, and embedding data-driven insight into assurance, advisory, risk, and controls activities across the global audit function.
This role partners with Internal Audit leadership, IT, Finance, Compliance, and business stakeholders to enhance audit quality, risk identification, continuous monitoring, and operational efficiency through the effective use of data, analytics, automation, and visualization. This role will embed analytics into audit planning and execution, enhance risk identification and continuous monitoring, improve audit quality and efficiency, and build scalable analytics capabilities across financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics Strategy and Leadership
- Define and execute the Internal Audit data analytics strategy aligned to audit objectives and enterprise risk priorities.
- Build and lead a global analytics capability that supports financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits.
- Establish a roadmap for audit analytics, automation, continuous controls monitoring, and visualization.
- Identify opportunities to increase audit coverage, precision, and efficiency through the use of data.
- Lead innovation in analytics approaches, including trend analysis, anomaly detection, risk indicators, and process mining where applicable.
Audit Integration
- Embed analytics into the annual audit planning process, risk assessment activities, and individual audit engagements.
- Partner with audit teams to design analytics procedures that address audit objectives, control risks, and business process risks.
- Support audit teams in scoping, testing, exception analysis, root cause assessment, and reporting.
- Develop reusable analytics scripts, dashboards, and testing routines for recurring audit themes.
- Promote analytics-driven auditing and continuous monitoring across global audit operations.
Data Management and Technology
- Work with IT, data owners, and enterprise platform teams to obtain reliable access to relevant data sources.
- Oversee data extraction, transformation, validation, and quality review processes used in audit analytics.
- Develop standards for analytics documentation, version control, quality assurance, and evidence retention.
- Guide use of analytics tools, visualization platforms, scripting tools, and audit-enabling technologies.
- Support governance over analytics models, key reports, and automated testing routines used by Internal Audit.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Internal Audit leadership to prioritize analytics efforts based on risk, audit plan needs, and business value.
- Collaborate with Finance, IT, Compliance, Legal, and operational leaders to understand systems, risks, and control environments.
- Present themes, trends, exceptions, and risk insights in a concise and actionable manner.
- Build credibility as a strategic advisor on data-driven assurance and control monitoring.
Team Leadership and Capability Building
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of analytics professionals.
- Establish training and enablement programs to improve analytics fluency across the Internal Audit function.
- Develop playbooks, templates, and standards for analytics use in audits.
- Support talent acquisition, capability assessment, and succession planning for audit analytics resources.
- Foster a culture of innovation, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Governance and Quality
- Ensure analytics activities align with Internal Audit methodology, documentation standards, and quality expectations.
- Maintain appropriate controls over data access, confidentiality, model integrity, and audit evidence.
- Support regulatory, external audit, and management requests related to Internal Audit analytics where needed.
- Monitor the effectiveness and adoption of audit analytics through defined performance metrics and reporting.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in one of these fields.
- Demonstrated experience leading data analytics programs or teams in an audit, finance, compliance, or risk environment.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, or MBA.
- Professional certification such as CISA, CRISC, CIA, CA or similar.
- Experience working with large datasets, structured and unstructured data environments, and enterprise systems.
- Experience with ERP environments such as SAP, S2K/AS400 or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience with analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
- Experience with continuous controls monitoring, automation, process mining, machine learning or advanced analytics in assurance environments.
- Experience in Internal Audit, risk management, controls, audit analytics, or a related function.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Experience operating in a global, cross-functional environment.
