Job Description - Group Accountant

Job Overview


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Group Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in Indian Accounting Standards, as well as expertise in GST (Goods and Services Tax) and TDS (Tax Deducted at Source).



Responsibilities


Financial Record Keeping


Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with Indian Accounting Standards.


Record financial transactions, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounting ledgers.



GST Compliance


Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns.


Monitor changes in GST regulations and update internal processes accordingly.


Reconcile GST accounts and resolve any discrepancies.



TDS Management


Manage Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) compliance, including timely deduction, deposit, and filing of TDS returns.


Ensure compliance with TDS provisions under the Income Tax Act.



Financial Reporting


Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.


Generate financial reports for management review.



Audit Support


Collaborate with internal and external auditors during the audit process.


Provide necessary documentation and explanations for audit queries.



Budgeting and Forecasting


Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.


Analyze financial data to provide insights for decision-making.



Cross-functional Collaboration


Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and provide financial insights.


Participate in cross-functional teams and projects as needed.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant with a focus on Indian Accounting Standards.

  • In-depth knowledge of GST and TDS regulations.

  • Familiarity with financial reporting principles and practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel. If you have experience in Zoho Books, we want to hear from you.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.



Key Responsibilities (Split Across Two Entities)


This role involves a dual-focus responsibility across two group companies. The selected candidate will:


1. Primary Responsibility – Company A



  • Work closely with the Head of Accounts to manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations.

  • Ensure timely recording of transactions, ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and monthly closing of books.

  • Support internal audits, statutory filings, and compliance requirements as directed by the Head of Accounts.

  • Assist in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis.



2. Secondary Responsibility – Company B



  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to assist in daily accounting tasks including data entry, invoice processing, payment follow-ups, and bank reconciliations.

  • Provide general support for transaction processing and maintenance of accurate financial records.



Reporting Structure



  • The role will report directly to the Head of Accounts and will coordinate regularly with the Senior Accountant handling the second company.
