Group SDE II - Foundation Services

JOB PURPOSE:

As part of DP World’s strategy of making global trade flow, we are investing in products that will digitize the logistics ecosystem and provide services which will create stickiness importers and exporters to use DP World services. 

This role builds the central payments platform at the core of that effort. The platform will handle payments securely, invoices, and financial data, and it will enable multi-currency and cross-border transactions for customers worldwide.  Key components of the platform may include payment processing capabilities, integration with banking systems and payment gateways, robust security measures to protect sensitive financial information, reconciliation, and reporting and analytics tools for monitoring and analyzing transaction data. The payment system will follow strict security and governance standards and comply with GDPR and other data protection regulations across all operating countries.

As a SDE 2, you will be responsible for the software architecture across the foundational services portfolio. You will be deep in each of these products, standardize development practices, deployment procedures, prevent redundancies, and make architectural decisions for this portfolio. The ideal candidate would have built systems from the ground up, would have managed the architecture of a large product or platform.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Design, build, and scale standard-global payment solutions, including payment processing, invoicing, reconciliation, fraud detection, and smart routing that define the best route for each transaction.
• Implement security, data protection, and governance standards, including encryption, access control, audit logging, and compliance with GDPR and other regional regulations.
• Design and build reporting and analytics that monitor transaction data, and standardize development practices, deployment procedures, and architecture across the Foundation Services portfolio.
• Write high-quality distributed, and scalable system software. 
• Work in an agile, startup-like development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff.

  QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

  Basic qualifications

• 6–8 years of professional experience in software development and design, with the ability to discuss in depth the design of systems and your significant contributions to one or more projects
• Experience building systems from the ground up, from design through production
• Experience managing the architecture of a large product or platform
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, distributed system design, databases, and design patterns
• Strong coding skills in a modern language such as Java, Go, Python, or similar
• Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements in multi-country deployments
• Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and [Node.js / TypeScript] for backend services
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
• Experience with distributed system performance analysis and optimization
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and with DevOps automation
• Exposure to observability tools such as New Relic, Loki, or Datadog

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in fintech, including building payment gateways or similar solutions
• Experience building identity verification, KYC, KYB, or compliance workflows
• Experience building reconciliation, fraud detection, or smart routing systems
• Experience with multi-currency, FX, or cross-border payments
• Experience with AML and sanctions screening regulations
• Experience applying machine learning, including NLP or deep learning, to fraud detection, risk scoring, or document processing for KYC/KYB
• Experience with geolocation and mapping APIs, which are relevant to logistics use cases
• Experience with analytics tools such as Power BI, Superset, or Metabase
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage colleagues proactively both inside and outside the team
• Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders
