Role Overview
The Head of Technology & AI Integration will lead the strategic evaluation, adoption, and implementation of Artificial Intelligence across the firm’s design, design development, documentation, and operational workflows. This role balances technological advancement with architectural design ethos, ensuring that AI acts as an enabler of creativity, efficiency, and quality—rather than a replacement for critical design thinking.
The role involves advising management on the most appropriate AI adoption pathways, based on cost–benefit analysis, maturity of tools, support ecosystems, and industry penetration, and subsequently overseeing structured implementation, training, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Advisory
· Evaluate AI tools and platforms relevant to architectural design, computational workflows, documentation, project management, and office operations.
· Advise leadership on AI adoption strategies aligned with the firm’s design philosophy, quality benchmarks, and long-term vision.
· Develop phased AI adoption roadmaps based on implementation cost, scalability, post-implementation support, and industry maturity.
· Ensure AI integration enhances design outcomes, efficiency, and decision-making without compromising creative integrity.
Workflow Integration & Implementation
· Plan and oversee the implementation of approved AI tools across design, documentation, and operational workflows.
· Define detailed processes, protocols, and governance frameworks for AI usage within the firm.
· Collaborate with design, technical, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration into existing workflows.
· Establish metrics to measure performance, impact, and ROI of AI adoption.
Training & Change Management
· Design and oversee structured training programs for teams at different skill levels.
· Support cultural adoption by enabling teams to use AI confidently, responsibly, and creatively.
· Develop internal guidelines, best practices, and usage standards.
Continuous Improvement & Industry Tracking
· Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies, tools, and trends relevant to architecture, design automation, and professional services.
· Periodically review and refine AI workflows to maintain relevance and competitive advantage.
· Proactively recommend upgrades, new tools, or process enhancements as the AI ecosystem evolves.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of AI tools and platforms across design, automation, and operational workflows.
- Experience in technology adoption, digital transformation, or process automation within design-led or professional service environments.
- Ability to evaluate tools from a strategic, financial, and operational standpoint.
- Familiarity with architectural design workflows and sensitivity to design quality and ethos.
- Proven ability to plan, manage, and implement firm-wide systems and process changes.
- Strong communication skills to engage with leadership, design teams, and external partners.
Ideal Background
- Background in architecture, computational design, design technology, engineering, or related fields, with strong exposure to AI and automation.
- Experience working with or advising design consultancies or creative firms is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge creative design thinking with technology strategy.
